GOSPEL REFLECTION:

In today’s Gospel, Jesus reminds us to “stay awake” because we do not know when He will come. This does not mean living in fear, but living each day with faithfulness and love.

We are called to be like the faithful servant who continues doing what is good even when no one is watching. Through our daily prayers, acts of kindness, forgiveness, and service to others, we prepare our hearts to meet the Lord.

As we commemorate the life of Saint Monica, we are reminded to stay awake and remain faithful, just as Jesus teaches in Matthew 24:42–51. Saint Monica never gave up praying for her family, especially for the conversion of her son, Saint Augustine. Through years of patience, tears, and unwavering faith, she trusted in God’s timing.

Her life teaches us that faithful waiting is not passive—it is filled with prayer, hope, and perseverance. May we, like Saint Monica, remain faithful each day and trust that God is always at work in our lives. AMEN!

Gospel reflection: THE ANNUNCIATION
The Gospel of Luke reminds us of Mary’s deep faith and trust in God. When the Angel Gabriel told her that she would become the mother of Jesus, she did not fully understand everything, yet she willingly said, “Let it be done to me according to your word.”

Like Mary, we may face situations in life that are difficult or uncertain. This Gospel invites us to trust in God’s plan and respond with faith and humility.
May we have the courage to say “YES” to God each day, knowing that with Him, nothing is impossible.

HAPPY 50th Presbyteral Ordination Anniversary, Archbishop Emeritus, Most Rev. Jose S. Palma, DD!

GOLDEN JUBILEE | Happy 50th Presbyteral Ordination Anniversary, our dear Archbishop Emeritus of Cebu, Most Rev. Jose S. Palma, DD! 🎉

Born on March 19, 1950, in the quiet town of Di**le, Iloilo, Archbishop Palma—affectionately called “Nono” by his loved ones—grew up as the second of eight children in a humble, faith-filled family.

In their simple home, he first encountered God’s love through his parents, Ruperto and Ester. His father, Tatay Ruperto, a respected barangay chief, instilled in his children the virtues of humility, kindness, and faith—values that would shape the future archbishop.

Quiet and solemn yet gifted in his studies, young Nono graduated valedictorian from Calicuang Elementary School. At Mater Carmeli School in Iloilo, his faith was further nurtured by the Carmelite sisters, laying the foundation for a life that would be dedicated to God and His people.

He was initially interested in taking up Engineering, however, his faith and the call to priesthood proved stronger and louder. His “fiat” or yes to God’s call became a prelude to an extraordinary life of service to the will of God.

Firm in offering himself to the altar of the priesthood, he studied philosophy at St. Vincent Ferrer Seminary and was among the first graduates at St. Joseph Regional Seminary where he studied theology.

He was ordained on August 21, 1976, the 3rd anniversary of his father’s death, a heartfelt demonstration of his great love and admiration for his Tatay Ruperto.

GOSPEL REFLECTION:
The Gospel of Matthew 20:1–16 reminds us that God’s generosity is not measured by human standards. The workers who came late received the same reward as those who worked all day, showing that God’s love and mercy are gifts, not something we earn by comparison with others.

Sometimes we may feel jealous when others receive blessings that we think they do not deserve. Jesus invites us instead to rejoice in God’s goodness. God does not give according to our calculations; He gives according to His love.

Let us ask for a generous heart—one that does not compare, complain, or envy, but trusts in God’s perfect goodness. In God’s kingdom, the greatest reward is not what we deserve, but the love and grace He freely gives us. Amen.

GOSPEL REFLECTION:

In today’s Gospel (Mt 19:23–30), Jesus reminds us that it is difficult to enter the Kingdom of God when our hearts are attached to wealth and worldly possessions. Riches are not evil in themselves, but they can easily become a barrier when we place them above God.

Jesus calls us to trust Him more than we trust our possessions, achievements, or status. What seems impossible to us is possible with God. When we choose to let go, follow Christ, and put Him first, we discover a treasure that cannot be taken away.

Reflection:
Am I placing my security in God, or in the things I have? May I learn to surrender my attachments and trust that God will provide what I truly need.

Minahal namong mga parokyano,

Ang inyong padayon nga pinansyal nga suporta, bisan gamay o dako, adunay dakong kahulugan. Ang matag kontribusyon makatabang sa pagpadayon sa atong proyekto, pagpakunhod sa gasto sa kuryente, ug paghatag og dugang nga kahupayan sa mga buluhaton ug serbisyo sa atong simbahan.

Ang inyong tabang karon mahimong panalangin nga mapuslanon sa umaabot. Dili kita mag-inusara sa pagpalambo niini—kung magtinabangay kita, mas dali nato nga matuman ang atong tumong.

Busa, among mapaubsanon nga hangyo: padayon nato nga suportahan ang Solar Power Project. Himuon nato kini nga atong hiniusang paningkamot ug gasa alang sa atong parokya ug sa umaabot nga mga henerasyon.

GOSPEL REFLECTION:

In today’s Gospel (Mt 19:16-22), Jesus reminds us that following Him requires more than simply being a good person. The rich young man kept the commandments, yet Jesus invited him to let go of his possessions and follow Him completely.

Sometimes, we also hold on to things that keep us from giving ourselves fully to God—our comfort, ambitions, fears, or attachments.
Jesus gently asks us: “𝓦𝓱𝓪𝓽 𝓪𝓻𝓮 𝔂𝓸𝓾 𝓼𝓽𝓲𝓵𝓵 𝓱𝓸𝓵𝓭𝓲𝓷𝓰 𝓸𝓷 𝓽𝓸?”

True discipleship means trusting God enough to surrender what prevents us from following Him. May we have the courage to let go and choose Jesus above everything else. Amen.
