Last Thursday, Fiat gathered for its regular Bible Study with the readings for this Sunday.
In the parable of the tenants, Jesus is telling a story to the Pharisees and high priests. He carefully explains how the landowner's son is sent to the vineyard to harvest produce thinking that they would respect him. But rather than being met with warm generosity, the son was killed, as the tenants wanted the landowner's son's inheritance. What the Pharisees don't realize is that this was a foreshadow to what will unfold in the days to come, as the hour of Jesusโ Passion was drawing near. Jesus further added and quoted Psalm 118:22, saying "the stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone." This fascinating image helps us understand that Jesus, despite being rejected, has become the powerful piece that binds everything together, just as a cornerstone in a structure.
Perhaps two questions that I'll pass on to you are: what are the fruits in the vineyard of your lifeโwhat will the Son harvest? And when facing rejection or feel burnt-out, do you collapse under its weight or do you cling on to someone?
