Dear friends in Christ,
I pray this note finds you enjoying the riches of grace we've received through the Saviour. I'm writing to let you know about two events that will be taking place in October. The first is a Worship Conference I'll be leading that will be held Oct. 10-12, Thursday morning through Saturday noon, in Cebu City. The conference will be held at Living Word Christian Ministries at
Good Shepherd Banawa. Its purpose is to equip and train pastors, worship leaders, musicians, songwriters, and tech personnel in the theology and practice of congregational worship. I have been leading similar conferences for Sovereign Grace Music in the United States for the past 15 years, and have recently been invited by Pastor Nilo Ebo and other leaders to host one in the Philippines. I'll be accompanied by a band of musicians from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, who will be helping me with teaching and training. Sovereign Grace churches have been building relationships with various pastors and churches in the Philippines for the past decade, and it's a delight to be able to host this event. The conference will consist of 5 main sessions and 4 breakout seminars. Main Session topics will include Why Do We Sing?, The Word in Worship, Gathering Around the Gospel, Pursuing God's Presence, and Worshiping God Mind, Soul, and Body. Breakouts will include The Task of the Worship Leader, Pastoring Through Song, A Leader's Relationships, Song Writing, Band Arranging, and working with sound systems. We will also allow time for questions and answers. On Thursday and Friday the conference meetings will end at 6:30pm, and on Saturday we'll be done before noon. We'd be honored if you and your musicians, as well as anyone from your church, would join us for this event. We are praying that God will do much to encourage and equip his people for the sake of his church and the advancing of the gospel. I pray you'll be able to join us for one, if not both, of these events. Looking forward to meeting you and praying that Jesus Christ would be magnified in the Philippines!
