SCRIPTURE GUIDE FOR TODAY'S WALK

Please read Psalms chapter 1 to 6 in your Bible

The Blessed Person
1. He Separates Himself from Sin (v.1)
Blessed is the man that walketh not... nor standeth... nor sitteth...

The blessed life starts with what you don't do. Notice the progression: walk -> stand -> sit. Sin is progressive. First you walk by it, then you stop to look, then you sit down and stay.

Like a stain on a white shirt. You don't rub it in to see if it will come out — you avoid it, you wash it off quickly. The blessed man doesn't play around sin, he keeps his distance from it.

Don't walk in ungodly counsel (don't listen to them), don't stand in their way (don't linger with them), don't sit in their seat (don't belong to them).

2. He Saturates himself in Scripture (v.2)
But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night.

He doesn't just avoid the wrong thing, he is filled with the right thing. The Word is not his duty, it is his delight. He doesn't just read it, he meditates — chews on it day and night.

Like a tea bag in hot water. Leave it in long enough, and the water takes on the color, the smell, and the taste of the tea. That's meditation — staying in the Word until the Word gets in you.

Blessing doesn't come from being empty, it comes from being filled.
