Note that MODULE 2 and MODULE 3 will be offered in two venues, Manila and Cebu City. MODULE 4BCD which is offered every other year, will be available again in summer 2027. The 4th public offering of the Training in SD Supervision will be happening in February. The application period for these programs and retreats will be announced once it commences. Few religious orders have left a more extensive architectural and missionary footprint than the Society of Jesus.

From the 16th century onward, the Jesuits established hundreds of churches, colleges, missions, and educational institutions across Asia, Africa, the Americas, and Europe — helping shape the global spread of Catholicism.

Founded by St. Ignatius of Loyola in 1540, the Jesuits quickly became known for their mobility, education, and bold missionary outreach. Saints like Francis Xavier carried the faith to India, Japan, and beyond. In South America, Jesuit reductions created organized Christian communities among indigenous peoples.

Across continents they built churches that still stand today, while founding schools and universities that formed generations of leaders.

Their approach combined rigorous intellectual formation with practical mission work. The result was not only places of worship but centers of learning, culture, and social development that endured long after political changes and suppressions.

Today the Jesuit legacy remains visible in historic churches, thriving universities, and ongoing missionary and educational work worldwide. Their story stands as one of the most ambitious and far-reaching efforts by a single religious order to bring the Gospel to the ends of the earth.

The 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐈𝐠𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲, 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐩𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬 (CIS) and the 𝐂𝐞𝐛𝐮 𝐂𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐈𝐠𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐒𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 (CCIS) have partnered anew for CCIS 3-Day Midyear Retreat. Retreatants both from within and outside Cebu City gathered from June 11 to June 14, 2026 for days of silence, prayer and individual accompaniment. Fr. Junjun Borres, SJ led the retreat disposition setting. A team of retreat guides composed of Clergy, lay and religious priest and sisters, accompanied the retreatants. It has been grace-filled time both for the retreatants and the retreat guides. We hope to be back again this time next year for another midyear retreat.

DEO GRATIAS | With hearts full of joy and gratitude, Cebu Center for Ignatian Spirituality (CCIS) celebrates the successful conclusion of the Mid-year Individually Guided Silent Retreat held last June 11 to 14, 2026. Twenty-four retreatants gathered for 3 days of rest, prayer and reflection guided by twelve spiritual guides from the Center for Ignatian Spirituality (CIS) Philippines.
