Sometimes, in our life, we tend to get overwhelmed by the number of things we need (and want) to fulfill every single day. Our To-Do list gets almost filled up to its corners, and some days, all we wanna do is throw that list away because of the pressure it throws upon us. Pressure of having to mark all of them out as soon as possible.
We need to learn and study, memorize, read books, watch lectures, serve the people around us, do chores, do something we love, and the list goes on.
All of these are great things and we do find great joy in doing them. We love doing them! But it is not to deny that there are really those days when we just can't seem to enjoy them, and instead, their great number pressures us to the core and suddenly, things become harder to do. I just wanna remind you, dear striving soul, that it is okay.
It's okay to not be able to do them all that day.
It's okay if you're feeling too tired to not be able to tick all of them off, or if you just simply don't feel like doing them today.
That is okay.
You are NOT a failure. It's just that you are a human and things happen to you. Things happen, especially inside you. If you feel like you need more rest time for now, more time in contemplation and reflection, more time in gathering your heart together, do it. Go grab that time you need and don't feel guilty about it.
Remember that you cannot fulfill your duties beautifully as a Muslim if you're feeling scattered inside.
So take that time to redirect your heart, refocus your vision, and adjust your intentions back to Allah. Carefully study yourself, for it may be that your uneasy heart right now is an indication that something is off. So reflect. Stay still. As long as you need to. And may you remember what Allah told us in the Qur'an:
"Allah intends for you ease, and does not intend for you hardship." [2:185]
And lastly, remember that you don't have to do all of them in just one day. If you think it will be better for your mental, physical, and spiritual well being to do some of them the next day, then do them the next day. Just be careful in approaching the "Laziness" level. If you can't read 10 pages of Qur'an for now, then do atleast 1 or 2.
Stay anchored in the Deen no matter what.
And may I remind myself and you with the hadith of Rasoolullah Sallallahu 'Alayhi Wa Sallam where he said:
“Take on only as much as you can do of good deeds, for the best of deeds is that which is done consistently, even if it is little.”[Sunan Ibn Majah 4240]
