Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

Years ago a little boy got saved in their children’s church service. The pastor of the children’s church service said to the little fellow, “Now you need to go over and tell them at big church that you’ve been saved, and you need to get baptized.” Well, the boy didn’t quite understand what he was being told, so he went and told the pastor, “I’ve been saved, and I need to get advertised.” This is a funny mix-up, but his words were true. Once you get saved, you get advertised. You’re saying, “Here I am, and I belong to Jesus Christ. I want everybody who sees me to know that I have been buried with Him by baptism into death and raised to walk in newness of life. I am identifying myself with the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.”

Why is it important to identify with Jesus—to advertise ourselves for Him?
Read Matthew 10:32-33. What did Jesus say about our identification with Him?

Do one thing today to “advertise” for Jesus. CHRIST MINDED IN POWER 2026

John 12:32 And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all men unto me.

Peter preached a Christ-centered Gospel message. The Church grew because its people lifted up Jesus. Jesus said, “And I, if I am lifted up…will draw all people to Myself.” No church is going to be a growing, vibrant church if it does not exalt the Lord Jesus Christ.

Some churches reserve Sunday morning for God the Father, Sunday night for God the Son, and Wednesday night for God the Spirit. This may not be literal but there’s sort of an emphasis like that. Every worship service must exalt the Lord Jesus Christ. Do you believe that?

Why is it important that Jesus be at the center of all the Church does?
What is the danger if He is not?

Consider the activities of your church. How is Jesus the center? If He is not, how could He be? CHRIST MINDED IN POWER 2026

Matthew 28:19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

Jesus commanded that we be baptized. Jesus began His public ministry with baptism. Jesus concluded His public ministry commanding baptism. (See Matthew 28:19.) Once a person is a disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ, that person is to be baptized by immersion, saying, “I belong to Jesus Christ. I’m not ashamed of Jesus Christ.”

You know why I wear a wedding ring? That ring shows that I belong to my wife. I belong to that girl, and I love her, and I’m not ashamed of her. When I go out of town, I don’t take the ring off. I belong to one lady.

In a similar way, baptism means you belong to Jesus Christ. You’re not ashamed of Jesus Christ. You want everybody to know. You are publicly buried in the likeness of His death and raised in the likeness of His resurrection.

If you are a follower of Jesus, have you been baptized?
If not, how is God calling you to respond today?

Take time today to reflect on your baptism (or to respond to God if you have not yet been baptized). Consider how your baptism provides a picture of your death and resurrection in Jesus. CHRIST MINDED IN 2026

Acts 1:1-2
1 The former treatise have I made, O Theophilus, of all that Jesus began both to do and teach,
2 Until the day in which he was taken up, after that he through the Holy Ghost had given commandments unto the apostles whom he had chosen:

In the Gospels, you find what Jesus did in His human body—the body of His flesh. In the book of Acts, you find out what Jesus is doing in His mystical body, the Church. You see, Jesus is still active and alive on Earth today, and He still has a body. In the Gospels, it was His material, physical body. In the book of Acts, it is His new body, which is the Church. And Jesus is alive and well today in His mystical body. This is what the Bible calls in Colossians 1:27, “Christ in you.” You see, we’re not here just imitating the Lord Jesus. I love the idea behind the question, “What would Jesus do?” That implies, “What would He do if He were here?” But we need to realize He is here. So, it’s not, “What would He do?” We need to recognize His presence in His body and let Him do what He will do.

How easily do you recognize that Jesus is present with His people and working through His body, the Church, each day?
How are you called to be part of that work?

Make a list of ways you can see Jesus working through your church right now. CHRIST MINDED IN POWER 2026

Luke 7:6-8
6 Then Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying unto him, Lord, trouble not thyself: for I am not worthy that thou shouldest enter under my roof:
7 Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed.
8 For I also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers, and I say unto one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.

Have you become a humble person who can say, “I am God’s to command”? Have you said that to Jesus? Do you mean it? If you do, you understand there’s a difference in authority and power. Authority comes from the office; power is residual in the person.

If you look at an American football field today, you would see that guys that are as tall as 6 feet 7 inches, weighing 285 pounds, and on top of that, they’ve got a helmet, a face guard, and armor all around them. You could get hurt playing that game! And yet there’s another little guy out there. This guy may be 175 pounds. He has no helmet, he has no shoulder pads, he’s wearing a shirt with stripes on it, and all he’s got is a whistle, but he directs these giants on the field. See the difference? The guy with the whistle, the guy with the striped shirt, he’s the one with the authority, and Jesus says to us, we’re the little guy: “I give you authority over all the power of the enemy.”

The enemy is the big guy, and it’s time you and I told him “you’re out!” It’s time you and I understood the strength of spiritual authority! But just knowing it is not enough. We need to learn to pray with authority.

When did you submit to Christ’s command? What changed in your life?
What are some areas Satan is still acting in authority over your life? How can you submit these areas to God?

Share with a friend about when you submitted your life to Christ’s command. CHRIST MINDED IN POWER 2026

John 17:4 I have glorified thee on the earth: I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do.

We need to understand the relationship of Jesus Christ to the Church. Don’t think of the Church as a business with Jesus as the president. The Church is a body with Jesus as the Head. Do you see the difference? We are organically related to the Lord Jesus Christ. His life is in us. Our authority comes from Him. In the Great Commission, He said, “All authority is given unto Me! Go ye, therefore!” Essentially, He said, “Because I have this authority, I am now giving you the power of attorney to act for me.”

You cannot have authority over anything until you get under the authority that is over you. All authority is linked to obedience. Why would a person give you authority to act for Him when you’re disobedient to Him? That’s the reason Satan tried to get Adam to disobey.

Even Jesus was under authority. He not only showed us what God was to be like on Earth; He also showed us what Man was to be like on Earth. He was God, but He lived on Earth as a man subject to His Father.

How can you submit to God’s authority? What does it look like to live apart from God’s authority?
How does Jesus’ submission to God’s authority instruct you? How can you seek to live under the authority of God like Jesus did?

Talk to a fellow believer about how Jesus lived under God’s authority and how that is challenging for you. CHRIST MINDED IN POWER 2026

Ephesians 2:1-3
Salvation From Sin
1 And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins
2 Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience:
3 Among whom also we all had our conversation in times past in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind; and were by nature the children of wrath, even as others.

What happened to Mankind? God made us to have dominion, but here Paul said, “You were dead in your sins. You’re following Satan. You’re walking according to the course of the prince of the air, the spirit that now works in disobedience.”

Satan, in the form of a serpent, which literally means “a shining one,” came into the Garden of Eden and began to tempt Adam and Eve. What was the temptation? He tempted Adam and Eve to secure for themselves what he had tried to secure in Heaven. He tempted them to desire to be like God. What Satan failed to accomplish in Heaven, he tempted Adam and Eve to accomplish on this Earth, and Adam and Eve believed a lie and chose against Almighty God. When they did, God was dethroned in their will and in their hearts. The same happens today; we so quickly neglect God’s instruction and go our own way. We are so easily deceived into thinking that our way will last in the end. God has authority over our hearts and lives. Will you submit to Him?

How have you struggled to obey God? What are some areas where you feel most tempted to go your own way?
What are some ways we try to be like God on our own? What happens when we do?

Confess and repent to God the ways you have chosen your way over His. CHRIST MINDED IN POWER 2026

Ephesians 1:17-19
17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:
18 The eyes of your understanding being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,
19 And what is the exceeding greatness of his power to us-ward who believe, according to the working of his mighty power,

Most of us have no problem accepting the fact that Jesus Christ is King and He has authority, but what we fail to understand is that He, our King, has given that authority to His subjects, and we, with Him, also exercise authority. That thought is staggering!

There’s a difference between authority and power. Power deals with brute force. Authority deals with right. When Jesus was preaching and teaching, the scribes and the Pharisees asked, “Who gave you this authority?” They meant, “Who gave you this official right?” Authority is conferred. Authority goes beyond power. It goes beyond force. When we are in Christ, we share in His authority.

What are some ways you have seen Jesus’ authority in Scripture?
What are some ways you can exercise the authority Jesus gives His people?

Encourage someone who has been discouraged or doubting. Remind your friend of the authority Christ shares with His followers. CHRIST MINDED IN POWER 2026
