PARAISO | An Evening of Music, Faith, and Hope
The Cebu Archdiocesan Shrine of Saint Pedro Calungsod joyfully held PARAISO, a benefit concert dedicated to supporting the ongoing renovation of the SPFY-Cebu House of Fatima and the development of the Calungsod Pilgrims’ Grounds.
The evening began with the solemn Prayer of St. Francis, preparing every heart for a night of faith, music, and generosity. In his welcome remarks, Rev. Fr. Alden John Baran warmly welcomed all the guests, reminding everyone that PARAISO is not only a celebration of music and artistry, but also a mission of hope and service for priestly formation and the continuing ministry of the Shrine.
Following this meaningful message, Rev. Fr. Jonathan Rubin shared the rationale and vision behind the project, inviting everyone to become part of this mission through their prayers, presence, and generous support.
The concert formally opened with the inspiring performance of the C3 Core Singers, whose renditions of Salmo 150 and Ave Maria, Gratia Plena filled the Shrine with prayer and reverence.
This was followed by the Jose R. Gullas Chorale, who captivated the audience with their performances of Sicut, Tanzen und Springen, Agnus Dei, and Maghimaya Ka Maria, beautifully showcasing the richness of sacred choral music.
Adding warmth and innocence to the evening was The Young Notes, a children’s choir whose voices reflected hope, purity, and the joyful spirit of faith through For the Beauty of the Earth and We Are the World.
The night reached a meaningful climax as all performers gathered for a special collaboration piece, "Paraiso", arranged by Christopher Borella and conducted by Rudolfo Denolan. Through every harmony and prayerful note, the audience was reminded that music becomes most beautiful when offered in service to God and His people.
As the evening came to a close, Most Rev. Alberto “Abet” Uy, D.D., Archbishop of Cebu, gave the final blessing and shared a heartfelt reminder: “A gift that is hidden becomes wasted. A gift that is used only for oneself becomes empty. But a gift that is offered in love becomes ministry.”
Indeed, PARAISO became more than a concert—it became a witness of faith, unity, and generosity. To all performers, organizers, volunteers, benefactors, and guests, thank you for becoming part of this meaningful mission.
