Today we commemorate the Sunday of Pentecost, or Pentecost Sunday.
Pentecost is a Catholic feast day celebrating the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and the Blessed Virgin Mary, marking the Church's public mission and fulfilling Jesus’ promise.
Occurring fifty days after Easter, its date varies annually. In Acts 2, the Apostles gathered in Jerusalem when they experienced a mighty wind and tongues of fire, empowering them to boldly proclaim the Gospel in different languages.
This led to the conversion of about three thousand people in a single day, signifying a powerful public moment as the Church emerged into history.
