~ September Q&A ~
Q: My father just passed away. I'd like to know, from a Gnostic perspective, what should be done in the days immediately following death to support the transition of the deceased.
A: Prayer helps immensely for souls who have passed away. The more force in the prayer, the more the soul receives energy to have the strength to face the intimate challenges of the afterlife. When a physical body dies, it also loses the Vital Body. However, through people who are still alive, they can share their strength through prayer. The tradition of having a "wake" after someone dies is still alive here in the Philippines, which means when someone dies, it is custom that families, friends and neighbors will have a gathering next to the body for a week or more, this is 24/7, non-stop, with frequent prayers. I have witnessed the benefit of this first-hand, I will share it with you. My grandmother died two years ago, and there was a three-week wake in her honor. At the beginning of the wake, with clairvoyance, I saw her astral body next to her deceased body. She did not look healthy or happy, she was still in her wheelchair which she suffered in for years, she looked miserable. After a few days, I saw her again, and now she was standing, with this kind of proud dignity which was inspiring to see. She still looked old, but she looked happy to be standing after suffering in a wheelchair for many years. She had a serene smile. Much later, at the end of the wake, on the day of her burial, I saw her again, but this time I was shocked to see her as a beautiful young woman full of youth and vitality! In that moment, I comprehend the power of praying for souls who have passed away. What a pity for people who pass away and do not have loved ones who pray for them.

Q: I am practicing these teachings and transmutation but my face is getting dull, no magnetism, and I am getting lethargic, can you help?
A: Students often believe that merely by performing pranayama, that this will transmute their energy. When one transmutes the energy but forgets the work on the Ego, then the result can be even more loss of energy. Reflect on the fact that before transmutation, people have egos that play out, but their egos are not so big because they don’t have a lot of energy. For the person who practices transmutation, they suddenly receive a lot of energy and if they are not careful, not in constant prayer, self-observation, meditation, etc., then their egos can actually become more volatile and a higher drainage of energy can occur. Hence why the teaching of transmutation was kept hidden in the past. Remember that in combination with transmutation, one must use all the energy obtained and direct it towards the death of the ego. Pray to your own particular Divine Mother to eliminate each psychological aggregate that you identify from self-observation, practice with faith and determination.

Q: Will everyone be granted an afterlife? There are reports of people who simply die and instantly go to another womb. Also, if you are in this afterlife. Is the point of coming back to Earth more of a purification process or more of a "let's have some fun" type of experience? Why people choose to experience Earth when you can easily just experience other planets with higher states of frequencies?
A: Everyone is granted an afterlife, I will share what I have discovered from experience, and simplify it to make it easy to understand. Firstly, upon death, there is a three-and-a-half-day period where one reviews their whole life from a more objective state, from the Conscience. This is very painful if one’s life was full of mistakes, because one will see the mistakes they never saw. After this, as you said, some go into another womb and some do not. Generally, if one is innocent, they will be granted another life, another chance of comprehending the mystery and purpose of life. We can classify three types of experience after death:
1. Those who go immediately, or very quickly, into another womb. They were granted another chance to self-realize.
2. Those who literally have a life “after-life”, these people can spend on average a period of 10-30 years between lives, sometimes as a way to continue their understanding of the life they lived, and to figure out how to proceed next, and also as a type of “holiday” before getting back on the path. These souls manage to sustain a length of time in the afterlife according to the degree they advanced while alive.
3. Those who do not go back to life, and instead devolve, or submerge, into the lower kingdoms. These people, due to the Ego, devolve into “nature's purification” which esoterically, or symbolically, is called “Hell”. Hell is Nature’s way of removing the Ego by force when the person failed to do it themselves. To remove the Ego in this way is very painful and takes a very long time.

Q: Me and my partner have been transmuting for over 2 years. Sometimes it is good, sometimes it is challenging, why?
A: When a couple works together to awaken their consciousness, it is inevitable that challenges will arise because both are working on their egos. In order to work on our egos, they must appear to the surface of the mind in order for us to “become conscious of the subconscious”. When a couple works so intimately together, it is natural that they will see each other’s egos. As long as the couple remains firm in practice of the Three Factors, they will overcome any obstacles and achieve marvelous results in the atmosphere of supreme love, harmony and wisdom.

Q: My question is generally simple. I want to understand what the Ego really is, why the Ego steals energy, and its relation to the seven sins or vices?
A: This is a good question which one should always reflect on, and by doing so we develop our "inner philosopher". The way of philosophy is to answer questions with more questions, and by doing so, this elicits a special type of critical thinking. Here is one description that may help your conscious discovery of the Ego - the Ego is identification with the false self. Reflect on the fact that you have an idea, or image, of yourself, constructed in your psyche. This self-image is not you. It is the false self. As long as someone remains in psychological identification with their false self, their Ego, they will suffer. It is useful to relate this to the Seven Sins, because this particular teaching is a way to synthesize what seven main types of identification create our Ego. Keep in mind that the Ego is not one singular type of psychological identification, but the Ego is plural - it is more specific to say "egos". Each person carries, internally, hundreds or thousands of many egos, or psychological "I's", and from moment-to-moment, the typical person is not the same person, but instead they are a different psychological "I" that manifests at the appropriate time when a certain ego would like a desire satisfied. For example, one day someone likes a particular type of man or woman, and another day they prefer a different man or woman - in this case, we are dealing with the psychological multiplicity of lust. You asked, "why does the Ego steal energy?" - we can understand this by stating what it actually steals - it steals the Essence, or the Consciousness (the pure part of us that derives from our Being). The average person is made up of 3% Essence and 97% Ego. If a person is full of Ego, they will be full of Sins, or vices. If a person is full of Essence, they will be full of virtues. In Gnosis, we teach how to achieve the death of our egos, and when each ego dies, then Essence is liberated and virtues are naturally achieved. Here is the result of the death of each “Sin”:
Pride → Humility
Greed (Covetousness) → Charity / Generosity
Lust → Chastity (sexual transmutation)
Anger → Serenity / Love
Envy → Happiness for others / Philanthropy
Gluttony → Temperance
Sloth (Laziness) → Diligence / Conscious Work

Q: People that are close to me in my family have different immune diseases, is there anything you would recommend for them to do to better their health?
A: When the consciousness is asleep, one only comprehends that they have a physical body. If people were to awaken and expand their self-knowledge, they would observe and identify that we have domains of consciousness that go much deeper than the physical. Diseases do not originate from the physical body, but from more profound levels of one's Internal World. We have a Physical Body, a Vital Body, an Astral Body, a Mental Body and more. These relate to sexual energy, emotions and thought. When negative thoughts and emotions arise in the Internal World, and are continuously present without any conscience, it is inevitable that the physical body will weaken in certain areas. It is simple for us to say, “do not have any negative thoughts or emotions”, and people think that this is a simple thing to do, but in reality, it is very difficult because people have many destructive habits that they do not suspect are destructive or negative at all. For example, a person who goes to a bar to get drunk and sleep with someone can say, “I am just having fun, it makes me feel happy!”. So then, everyone has the Ego, and this is a difficult reality that we must accept both in others and also in ourselves. When we accept that, we becoming more understanding of situations and relationships. Let this be a reminder of how important it is to dissolve our own Ego and achieve a great vitality of life so that we may have more time to do the Inner Work. As for other people, if we are knowledgeable about health and medicine, we may advise them to the level we are capable. It is always best for someone to seek out natural and holistic approaches first, and of course if someone is interested in Gnosis then they may benefit their health by knowing how to discover their egos and thus the real cause of their diseases. However, caution is advised as we should never force this knowledge onto anyone. When people are trapped in psychological identification and we try to point out egos, their pride may get hurt, they get offended or feel attacked, and we can be responsible for doing more damage because that person may develop an aversion to the teachings, when in reality, they are hearing it too soon when they are not ready. It is of utmost importance that every student knows how to appropriately and maturely respect the path, life and karma of each person with kindness and wisdom.
Accepting that we live in a world of intense suffering is all part of the path. As we advance in awakening our own consciousness, we will see the sad reality of humanity more, but this is also where real compassion starts to be born. Over time, we also begin to see the beauty and Essence of humanity as we grow in our own Being.
