Requiescat in pace

IN LOVING MEMORY

With profound sorrow, we announce the passing of Rt. Rev. Cletus Chandrasiri Perera OSB, Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese of Ratnapura.

A devoted shepherd, faithful servant of God, and loving father to many, he dedicated his life to the service of Christ and His Church.

As we mourn his passing, we give thanks to God for the gift of his life and ministry, and we entrust his soul to the loving mercy of our Heavenly Father.

“Well done, good and faithful servant…”
— Matthew 25:21

“O God, who willed that the grace of Baptism
should flourish in these your servants,
so that they might strive to follow more closely
in the footsteps of your Son…” - collect mass for religious profession. ☀️

All glory be to God who willed that we, his servants will flourish in baptismal grace . Today, the whole Sylvestro Benedictine community rejoices for the profession of Bro. Rico Mamenta Palangpangan, OSB and Bro. Francis Ike Acas Mediana, OSB. The Mass was led by Rev. Fr. Joseph Orlando, OSB together with the members of the community. In his homily, Rev. Fr. Gerby emphasized that the love which is burning within the hearts of every religious is not meant exclusively for God as in devotion but for the entire human family. therefore, all religious are called to be servants of everyone in need.

📸special thanks to Mr. Junnel Villanueva Capuyan for the photographs, done as a beautiful act of service.

So that in all things, God may be glorified!

Just in 🔥
Today, during the evening prayer, our three postulants were admitted to novitiate.
Rev. Fr. Joseph, OSB, superior and novice master of the community delivered a sermon which highlights the importance of dying to oneself so as to be born again in union with Christ.
Let us pray for the perseverance of the newly initiated novices that they may steadfastly choose to deny themselves in order to become in union with Christ in his new life.
Thier Novice master would play a vital role for their formation. Therefore, let us also pray for Rev. Fr. Joseph and his assistant, Rev. Fr. Devasia that they may guide the novices toward the fulfillment of God’s will.

So that in all things, God may be glorified.

The annual retreat 2026 was successfully filled with grace and healing. 🌱
Thanks to our retreat master, Fr. Tom, CSsR, and the staff of Holy Family Retreat Center who made the meaningful retreat possible.

We ask for your prayers for the novices who are still undergoing their canonical retreat in preparation for their First Profession, and for the successful novitiate journey of the postulants in the frame.

So that in all things, God may be glorified!!
