All praise belongs to God. Today, in the solemnity of Sts. Peter and Paul, three of our Aspirants are initiated to Postulancy. Postulancy marks the beginning of their extensive discernment and formation in preparation for novitiate.
Let us pray to God through the intercession of His holy Apostles for their growth and perseverance.

Indeed God is Glorified! Today the whole Sylvestero Benedictine community rejoices for the admission of its new novices: Francis Ike Mediana and Rico Palangpangan. They will be kept hidden for a year to bear fruit for the kingdom of God. Let us pray through the intercession of Sts. Benedict and Sylvester for their perseverance and growth under the guidance of Fr. Joseph Orlando, their novice master.

The Sylvestro-Benedictine Congregation is grateful to announce that its 119th abbot general has been elected in the person of Rev. Fr. Shamindra Jayawardena, OSB.
He is the successor of the first asian abbot, Abbot Emeritus Antony Puthenpurakkal, OSB Thus, making him the second Asian abbot general of the congregation -elected by the chapter fathers on May 28, 2025.
he would take up the office of St. Sylvester as the father of entire congregation by overseeing the conventual priories and leading the general chapters.
Abbot Elect Shamindra Jayawardena is a psychiatrist, formator and educator of many years. prior to his election as a the abbot general, he served as the conventual prior of the Sri lankan priory for two terms. He is also a passionate liturgical music composer whose songs were used during the visit of pope Francis to Sri Lanka on 2015.
With this, let us pray to God through the intercession of Sts. Benedict and Sylvester that the charism which God bestowed to the sylvestrine congregation would be fulfilled.
So that in all things God may be Glorified.

The Gospel of today is the narrative of transfiguration, today Jesus revealed his true identity, and together with it is his predestined purpose of suffering and death to save humanity from sin. This reality is the same for everyone, all of us are facing trials, discouragement, and sufferings, but most of us, unlike him, do not know who we really are.

The Gospel teaches us to have some time with God for Him to reveal to us our true purpose. Often we are overwhelmed by sufferings just because we are pursuing the things that are not destined for us; let us remember that only God has the true knowledge of us -the fulfillment of our being. In God alone our sufferings bears fruit and apart from Him, we can never be satisfied.
Therefore, let us seek the will of God in prayer, accept who we are as God dictates and utilize our God given gifts so that we can be superior to trials, bearing the hope that towards the end of it is Glory.

Do not waste your tears to the things that are not for you, consult God, seek who you are and your purpose through prayer. Then transfigured with knowledge, you can strive and cry as hard as you can, knowing that your tears lifts you up like a flood towards the fulfilment of your being.

VOCJAM 2025 | This Saturday and Sunday, February 22-23, young men and women will gather again for the annual Vocation Jamboree at the University of San Carlos - Downtown Campus.

Rooted on the theme, “Pilgrims of Hope: Casting Nets, Journeying Together (Jn 21:3),” this event aims to provide an avenue for the young to connect, be inspired by the stories of passionate individuals, and find guidance from those who have already answered their calling.

This is also an opportune time for us to discover different congregations within our archdiocese, each with a unique mission to serve humanity.
