What a wonderful day we had at Barangay Calambua, San Remegio, Cebu as we wrapped up our Nazarene Children Friendly Spaces (NCFS) trauma debriefing program!
Around 200 children and their parents joined us, making the event truly special. The morning started with DS Raffy Galarse by sharing God’s Word with 150 households who also received food packs from Purok 6 and 7.
Then, at 9 AM, our volunteers gathered the children for fun and heartwarming activities. The kids sang songs, shared what they lost during the earthquake, and received encouragement that even though they may have lost their homes or schools, God is good and is using others to meet their needs. We assured them that God loves them deeply and has a wonderful plan for their lives.
One parent shared, “It’s the first time our family has received something like this after the earthquake. We are truly thankful.”
You could see the joy in the children’s eyes as they received hygiene kits, toys, vitamins, and a yummy meal of Jollibee spaghetti, chicken with rice, and juice.
Barangay Captain Tata Ornopia and the council expressed their heartfelt gratitude to our team, even taking time during their session to thank us for choosing their community.
A volunteer reflected, “Instead of letting fear stop us, we chose to be the hands and feet of Jesus by serving these kids and families through NCM NDR. The smiles and hope we witnessed were priceless.”
We, the CVD NDR Team, are deeply thankful to all our generous donors (NCM, Jesus Christ Cares Ministries, Bible Baptist Church and Doc Helen B. Minguez-Tachado) and hardworking volunteers. Your kindness uplifts the children and adults in Calambua, especially amidst the ongoing aftershocks.
The work doesn’t stop here. Many communities still need trauma debriefing, especially for children. If you want to partner with us, send us a message—we’d be glad to connect with you. May God continue to bless the people of Calambua, our donors, and our volunteers abundantly!
