🇵🇭 When you work cross-culturally, it is important to understand the people and customs, the history and even the legends held in your new home. Filipino, Josè Rizal, was a brilliant man who gave his life for his country. His many acts of devotion, bravery & heroism until his unfortunate death are celebrated nationwide on Decembe30th
“Rizal was told to kneel and wear a blindfold. The Spanish were to shoot him in the back of his head. But Rizal defied their command and said he was innocent and did not want to fall, face forward, into the ground. He asked the Spanish military to preserve his head & to rather shoot him in the back.
Eight native soldiers composed the firing squad. Behind them were eight Spanish soldiers with Ma**er rifles, ready to shoot the native soldiers if they refused to shoot Rizal.”
* These beautiful statues can be found, along with the history of Rizal, up in the capitol city of Manila, at Rizal Park.
