Today’s reading talks about a young prophet named Jeremiah. Even though he did what was good, he was repaid with evil by his enemies. They wanted to attack him.

But Jeremiah’s defense was in the Lord. He cried out, “Listen to me, LORD; hear what my accusers are saying!”

From this story, I learned that when we serve God, even when we do what is right, there will always be opposition. There will always be contradictions. People will always have something to say. But persecution does not mean God has abandoned His servants. It does not mean He has forgotten them. It only means that these trials do not have the final say.

The final say will always be: “For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

In life, there will always be contradictions. There will be contradictions in our dreams, contradictions in our faith, contradictions in our relationships, and contradictions when we begin to live out our purpose.

But the story of Jeremiah reminds us that these conditions do not conclude our story. Even Jesus experienced rejection, betrayal, and suffering. But the empty tomb proved that opposition never has the last word.

Sometimes we are too afraid of what others think about us. We become slaves to fear. We fear their judgment even when we are doing good. We worry about what they will say. And it becomes tempting to lose focus and forget what God has placed in us, what He has called us to do.

Life can feel harder when you start walking toward your dream, your calling, and God’s purpose for you. It can be frustrating. It can be discouraging. People may stand against you. But like Jeremiah, we can cry out to the Lord, “Lord, You called me to this. I trust that You will help me through this.”

Sometimes believing this feels foolish. Even I sometimes wrestle with these doubts. But faith often looks foolish to the world. And God delights in using what seems foolish to reveal His wisdom.

So if there is one “foolish” choice I am willing to make, it is this: I would rather appear foolish for trusting His plans than rely on my own foolishness of not trusting Him.

The first reading talks about the Bible character named Esther. We all know that Esther became queen because the king admired her beauty and chose her as his queen. But her story was never just about beauty, it was about purpose.

At that time, a royal official plotted to destroy all the Jews in the empire. Esther was in the palace, but her people were in danger. God had positioned her not just to wear a crown, but to carry a calling.

Esther was afraid. She knew that approaching the king without being summoned could cost her life. She was alone. She was uncomfortable. She was stepping into something risky and uncertain. Yet she chose to trust God. She prayed and asked the Lord to save her people, even if it meant risking her own life.

And because of her faith and courage, the Jews were saved.

One thing common among God’s servants is faith. But faith does not mean the absence of fear. Moses was afraid. Abraham had doubts. Gideon felt unqualified. Even David, when he faced Goliath, must have felt fear. Faith is not the absence of fear, it is choosing to trust God despite fear.

The Bible reminds us again and again: “Do not be afraid.” It appears 365 times , one reminder for every day of the year.

Faith is not passive. Look at Esther. She fasted. She prayed. She took action even when it was uncomfortable. Faith means stepping forward even when everything is unclear.

Maybe you are listening right now and you are afraid. Maybe you are uncomfortable with what is happening in your life. Maybe you feel anxious and you do not understand why God allowed you to be in this situation.

But just like Esther, your breakthrough might be on the other side of your obedience. Your blessing might be waiting on the other side of your faith.

If God called you to it, He has already built you for it. Fear may be present, but so is God. And with faith, you will see His promises fulfilled.

This chandelier grabbed my attention, and I was like, why was it made? What moved the maker to design something so beautiful? I wondered what the intention was behind every crystal, every curve, every detail?

Surely, it was not made merely for decoration. It was created to shine, to give light in the darkness. Yet in giving light, it also brings beauty. Its radiance is not accidental but intentional.

And then I realized that life is like that.
We often ask ourselves, Why am I here? Why was I created? In times of doubt, sometimes we convince ourselves that we exist only by chance, that we are here only to fill space, like an object placed for display. Sometimes we act like we’re only here to be seen, not to actually matter. But no. We are not created just for display, just to exist, just to survive.

Like the chandelier, you were created intentionally. Every detail of your being was formed with thought. Every strength, every weakness, every dream, all of them have a reason. You were not placed in this world randomly. You were placed with purpose, to bring light in ways only you can. You were created to make a difference. Your life carries a unique contribution to a world in need.

The question is do you know your purpose? If not, return to your Creator. He has the answer.

Just as a chandelier exists to light the darkness, you exist to fulfill your purpose. Turn from it, and you dim your own life but step into it, and you illuminate the world.

When we are in a difficult situation, we usually pray like this: “Look God, I have a very big problem,” instead of saying, “ Look problem, I have a very big God.”

Because what if the real issue isn’t how big your problem is, but how small you’re seeing your God? When David faced Goliath, he didn’t focus on how huge the giant was. He focused on how great his God was. His eyes weren’t on the size of the enemy, but on the power of the God who created heaven and earth.

So the next time a problem tries to scare you, stress you out, or mess with your peace, don’t shrink back. Face it. Remind yourself who God is. You don’t fight your battles alone. Your problem might look big but your God is way bigger.

Shalom! 🙌
