June 5 | First Friday Devotion to the most Sacred Heart of Jesus.

“BE STRONG AND COURAGEOUS. DO NOT FEAR OR BE IN DREAD OF THEM, FOR IT IS THE LORD YOUR GOD WHO GOES WITH YOU. HE WILL NOT LEAVE YOU OR FORSAKE YOU.”
—Deuteronomy 31:6—

“As to persons living in the world, they shall Find in this DEVOTION all the Aids Necessary in their state of Life: ‘Peace‘ in their Homes, ‘Consolation’ in their Work, the ‘Blessing of Heaven’ upon all their Enterprises, ‘Comfort’ in their Sorrows, a secure ‘Refuge’ during Life and especially at the hours of death. It is plainly Evident that there is NO ONE in the world wh.o will not Receive all Kinds of Heavenly Blessings if they Have a True Love of JESUS CHRIST manifested by a Devotion to HIS MOST SACRED HEART.”
—St. Margaret Mary Alacoque—

MOST SACRED HEART OF JESUS, my heart is broken but Thou art near. My spirit is crushed, but Thou art my Rescuer. Thy Words are Wisdom that gives meaning to my life; and Thy Words art my Hope. It Revives me and Comforts me in difficulties especially now. My soul faints, but Thou art the Breathe of Life within me. Thou art my Help, the ONE Who Sustains me. I am weak but Thou art Strong and Thou art my Strength. Thou Blest those who mourn, and I trust in Thee to bless me and my family with all that we need. Thou will Rescue me from this dark cloud of despair because Thou delight in me. O JESUS CHRIST, KING OF HEARTs, I beseech, that I may ever Love Thee more and more, as I PUT ALL MY HOPE AND TRUST IN THEE! AMEN.

Prayer to Our Lady, Comforter of the Afflicted

O Blessed Virgin Mary,
Our Lady, Comforter of the Afflicted,
tender Mother of mercy and refuge of the sorrowful,
I come before you with trust and humility.

In my troubles, pains, and anxieties,
I turn to your loving heart.
You who stood faithfully beside your Son,
even at the foot of the Cross,
understand the depth of human suffering.

Dearest Mother, console those who are afflicted,
heal the brokenhearted,
strengthen the weak,
and bring hope to those who feel lost and discouraged.

Wrap us in your motherly protection,
and present our prayers to your Son, Jesus Christ.
May His peace calm our fears,
His grace renew our strength,
and His love fill our hearts with joy.

O gentle Mother,
comfort us in our sorrows
and lead us always to your Son,
who lives and reigns forever and ever.

Amen.

Prayer for the Holy Souls in Purgatory
by St. Gertrude the Great.

Monday Devotion

According to tradition, St. Gertrude the Great was told by Our Lord that the following prayer, each time she piously recited it, would release 1,000 souls (or a vast number) from their suffering in purgatory:

“Eternal Father,
I offer You the most precious blood
of thy Divine Son, Jesus,
in union with the Masses said
throughout the world today,
for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory,
for sinners everywhere,
for sinners in the universal Church,
for those in my own home,
and in my family. Amen.”

PRAYER REMEMBERING THE HOLY SOULS IN PURGATORY
(A Monday Devotion)

O Lord, who art ever merciful and bounteous with Thy gifts, look down upon the suffering souls in purgatory. Remember not their offenses and negligences, but be mindful of Thy loving mercy, which is from all eternity. Cleanse them of their sins and fulfill their ardent desires that they may be made worthy to behold Thee face to face in Thy glory. May they soon be united with Thee and hear those blessed words which will call them to their heavenly home:

"Come, blessed of My Father, take possession of the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world."

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord; And let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace.

Amen.

A PRAYER FOR THE FORGOTTEN DEAD
A Monday Devotion

We must always remember the dead. The Holy Souls in Purgatory are guaranteed heaven, however, they cannot pray for themselves. For that, they need us.

Today's new-church funeral services place the emphasis on the celebration of life, the idea "Grandma is making meatballs up in heaven for everybody" idea. When, in fact, poor Grandma might be cooking, but not meatballs, in purgatory. In the old Requiem Mass, emphasis was placed upon the soul in need of salvation; it did not assume that the person already achieved the beatific vision.

So, it is essential that we continue to pray for the dead, now, even more than in the past.

MONDAY DEVOTION:
A Prayer to Help the Poor Souls in Purgatory:

Oh Lord Jesus Christ, through the sacred Blood that You shed during Your fear of death in the Garden of Gethsemane, please deliver the souls of Your faithful from the sufferings of the fires of Purgatory, in particular those who are most neglected and lead them to their place in your Splendour to glorify and praise You in Eternity.

(Our Father… Hail Mary…)

Oh Lord Jesus Christ, through the sacred Blood that You shed during Your merciless flogging, please deliver the souls of Your faithful, in particular those who are closest to their liberation and lead them to seeing You so that they may glorify and praise You in Eternity.

(Our Father… Hail Mary…)

Oh Lord Jesus Christ, through the sacred Blood that You shed during Your painful crowning, please deliver all souls of the Christian faithful from the dungeon of Purgatory, in particular those who would have to suffer there very much longer and lead them into the Blessed Community of the Chosen, so that they may glorify and praise You in Eternity.

(Our Father… Hail Mary…)

Oh Lord Jesus Christ, through the sacred Blood that You shed during Your gruesome Crucifixion, please deliver all souls of the departed, in particular those of my father, my mother, my brothers and sisters, my relatives, my benefactors and lead them to Eternal Joys, so that they may glorify and praise You in Eternity.

(Our Father… Hail Mary…)

Oh Lord Jesus Christ, through the sacred Blood that poured from Your Blessed Side, please deliver all Poor Souls from Purgatory, in particular those who during their lives especially served Your Blessed Virgin Mother, and lead them to Your Eternal Glory, so that they may glorify and praise You in Eternity.
(Our Father… Hail Mary...)

Amen.

Prayer to Our Lady of Eternal Help.

Our Lady of Perpetual Help,
before night closes today, We come to give thanks for Your inclusion. Protect us all night long, keep away from all danger and temptation. Gentle mother, surrender us to the love of Jesus your Son,
so that tomorrow we wake up with new hearts, ready to serve and love. Amen.

Forgive me my sins, O Lord,
forgive me my sins;
the sins of my youth,
the sins of my age,
the sins of my soul,
the sins of my body;
my idle sins,
my serious voluntary sins;
the sins I know,
the sins I do not know;
the sins I have concealed for so long,
and which are now hidden from my memory.

I am truly sorry for every sin, mortal and venial,
for all the sins of my childhood up to the present hour.

I know my sins have wounded Thy Tender Heart,
O My Savior, let me be freed from the bonds of evil through
the most bitter Passion of My Redeemer.

Amen.

O My Jesus, forget and forgive what I have been.

Amen.

While the Blessed Virgin Mary has appeared many times throughout history, apparitions of St. Joseph are rarer—yet profoundly moving. He comes quietly, protectively, always pointing us to Jesus and Mary.

Here are some of the most notable occasions:

✨ Cotignac, France – June 7, 1660

The only Church-approved solo apparition of St. Joseph. On a scorching day, 22-year-old shepherd Gaspard Ricard was dying of thirst. A tall, noble man appeared and said:

“I am Joseph. Lift this rock and you will drink.”
Gaspard obeyed — and a miraculous spring gushed forth! Eight men later could barely move the same rock. The spring still flows today, bringing healing and devotion to the Holy Family. The site is a recognized sanctuary.

✨ Knock, Ireland – August 21, 1879

During a pouring rain, 15 witnesses saw a silent heavenly tableau on the gable of the parish church: Our Lady, St. Joseph (bowing respectfully toward her), St. John the Evangelist, and the Lamb of God on an altar with angels. No words were spoken — the image itself was the message of consolation during famine and persecution. Fully Church-approved.

✨ Fatima, Portugal – October 13, 1917

During the Miracle of the Sun, as 70,000 people watched, St. Joseph appeared with the Child Jesus beside Our Lady. Both blessed the world with the Sign of the Cross. Sister Lucia later described it as a powerful sign of St. Joseph’s protection over the Church in difficult times.

St. Joseph also appeared with Jesus and Mary in the approved apparitions at Itapiranga, Brazil (1994–1998), encouraging devotion to his Most Chaste Heart.
Why does he appear?

✅ St. Teresa of Ávila, who had many personal visions of him, wrote: “I know by experience that the glorious St. Joseph helps us in all kinds of necessities… To other saints, Our Lord seems to have given the grace to help us in some particular necessity. But this glorious saint, I know by experience, helps us in every need.”

He is the model of silent strength, chaste love, and total trust in God’s Providence.

St. Joseph, Guardian of the Holy Family, Terror of Demons, and Protector of the Universal Church — pray for us! Help us to live as you did: in humble obedience, quiet courage, and tender love for Jesus and Mary. 🌹
