MORE THAN A HOLIDAY, CHRISTMAS IS A HOLY MYSTERY

For us Catholics, Christmas is not merely a holiday marked by rest, gatherings, or tradition. It is a holy day, sanctified by the greatest mystery of our faith: the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. What the world may call a “holiday,” the Church proclaims as the Incarnation, God entering human history for our salvation.

That is why we say Merry Christmas, not simply Happy Holidays. Our greeting is an act of faith. It names Christ, whose birth is the source of true joy. Christmas is not about a season that passes, but about Emmanuel, God-with-us, who remains with His Church in every age.

To say Merry Christmas is to confess that our joy is rooted in Christ who came, who dwells among us, and who continues to save. It is a quiet but powerful witness that this day is not empty celebration, but holy worship and living faith.
