77th WV-RACCTIS meeting , Hosted by Diocese of Kabankalan
STATEMENT
77th Western Visayas and Romblon Regional Association of Catholic Catechetical Commissions, Training Institutes, and Schools (WV-RACCTIS) Meeting
“Steadfast in Faith, Responsive to the Times: Journeying Together in the Catechetical Ministry”
I. PROLOGUE: A LEGACY OF FAITH AND FILIAL OBEDIENCE
Gathered in synodality, we, the member-archdioceses and dioceses of WV-RACCTIS across Western Visayas and Romblon, conclude our 77th Regional Meeting with hearts full of gratitude. As a community, we paused to look back and briefly recall what transpired during our 76th meeting experience, re-orienting ourselves to our shared regional journey and honoring the work left for us to sustain.
In a spirit of deep filial obedience, we continue to work hard for evangelization and catechesis, always maintaining our steadfast fidelity to the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines - Episcopal Commission on Evangelization and Catechesis (CBCP-ECEC) and higher ecclesiastical authorities. During this gathering, we received vital updates from the CBCP-ECEC regarding the upcoming Philippine Conference on New Evangelization (PCNE), the national Annual Meeting of Directors and Coordinators (AMDC) this year, the current initiatives on re-aligning catechetical centers and institutes, and the developments surrounding the new National Catechetical Directory for the Philippines (NCDP) to inform our ongoing awareness.
II. THE INTERNAL ORDER: STRUCTURAL VITALITY AND RELEVANCY
To ensure that our association remains responsive to the signs of the times and the unique challenges they present, we entered into constructive initial discussions to revisit our Constitution and By-Laws.
This systematic review addresses three critical, non-territorial dimensions of our organizational identity:
Membership: Evaluating the roles and composition of our body.
Ministerial Scope: Defining our functional and pastoral boundaries.
Core Objectives: Aligning our long-term goals with contemporary ministerial needs.
By exploring more flexible and effective meeting schedules to best serve our mission, we have successfully paved the way for these crucial amendments to be formally tackled and decided upon during our next meeting.
III. THE EXTERNAL MISSION: STRATEGIC PASTORAL HORIZONS
Celebrating the generous sharing of our best practices during this gathering, we remain eager to exchange formation materials and resources for the good of the People of God. To transform this shared vision into concrete pastoral tools, we commit to a rigorous four-fold roadmap:
The Hiligaynon CFC Translation: Vigorously continuing the translation of the Catechism for Filipino Catholics (CFC) into the Hiligaynon dialect, ensuring that every member-diocese actively contributes and takes part in this monumental work.
Pre-Sacramental & Liturgical Modules: Gearing up to produce specialized catechetical modules for pre-sacramental formation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Matrimony) alongside liturgical materials focusing on the Solemnities, Feasts, and Memorials of the Church.
Compilation of Diocesan Materials: Systematically creating a comprehensive compilation of the distinct existing catechetical materials currently used by our various member-(arch)dioceses to enrich our shared regional repository.
Region-Wide K-12 Curriculum: Collaborating to develop a unified, region-wide, school-based catechetical module specifically tailored for the K-12 curriculum.
IV. THE MILESTONES: COMMEMORATING TRIUMPHS AND LOOKING FORWARD
With immense joy, we celebrate the historic completion of the long-overdue WV-RACCTIS Silver Anniversary Souvenir Program and Historical Book. We honor the legacy and labors of our predecessors who faithfully initiated this project, and we look back at the 13-year journey of its production—recalling the difficulties, tensions, and ultimate joys encountered along the way—as a testament to God’s enduring grace and our collective resilience.
Moving forward with hope, we fix our eyes on the horizon as we anticipate our grand Ruby Anniversary, contributing creative, collaborative suggestions for a grand celebration of our shared faith.
V. EPILOGUE: THE HARMONIOUS PATH FORWARD
As we return to our respective fields of labor, we carry with us the profound grace of this 77th regional meeting—a gathering where our holistic formation was deeply nurtured in Head, Heart, and Hands. Through our collective reflections, our Heads were sharpened with structural wisdom and pastoral vision; through shared prayer and cultural understanding, our Hearts were bound closer in fellowship; and through our concrete resolutions, our Hands were equipped for greater excellence in the field.
Bound together across our episcopal territories, we move forward as one unified region—strengthening our harmonious relationships and bringing the light of the Gospel to every corner of Western Visayas and Romblon.
