𝗖𝗛𝗜𝗟𝗗𝗥𝗘𝗡'𝗦 𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗬

"...𝘦𝘴𝘤𝘢𝘱𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘺 𝘭𝘪𝘧𝘦; 𝘭𝘰𝘰𝘬 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘣𝘦𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘦"

“But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt.” — Genesis 19:26

The destruction of S***m and Gomorrah reveals the holiness and righteous judgment of God, while the escape of Lot and his family displays His sovereign mercy and grace. Yet one heart remained attached to the city God commanded them to leave.

God’s Word calls for obedience, not hesitation; a heart that trusts Him does not cling to what He has commanded us to forsake.

𝗖𝗛𝗜𝗟𝗗𝗥𝗘𝗡'𝗦 𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗬

Genesis 42 shows Joseph’s brothers facing the consequences of what they had done years before. Their guilt was brought to light, and God used their circumstances to humble them. The story shows that God is sovereign even over painful and unexpected events, working according to His purpose.

Thank You, Lord, for this truth and for how it speaks to our own lives. Sin cannot be hidden from You, so teach us to deal honestly with our sin, repent sincerely, and trust Your sovereign hand.

Help us walk humbly before You, knowing that Your purposes are always righteous and good.

𝗝𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗢𝗥'𝗦 𝗙𝗘𝗟𝗟𝗢𝗪𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗣 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗕𝗜𝗕𝗟𝗘 𝗦𝗧𝗨𝗗𝗬

Thank You, Jesus, for repeatedly reminding us that all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23 humbles us by showing that no one is righteous through personal goodness or human works.

Thank You for showing us our need for Your grace and salvation. In Christ alone, there is hope for sinners who cannot save themselves.

𝗖𝗛𝗜𝗟𝗗𝗥𝗘𝗡'𝗦 𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗬

A promise was spoken, yet everything around Abraham seemed to say it was impossible. Sarah was old, Abraham was old, and still God declared that a son would be born. What God had purposed, no weakness in man could overturn.

𝘐𝘴 𝘢𝘯𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘵𝘰𝘰 𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘓𝘖𝘙𝘋? — Genesis 18:14

The same chapter reveals the holiness and righteousness of God as He declares His judgment upon S***m. God is faithful to His covenant and perfectly just in His judgment; His purposes never depend upon the strength or merit of man.

The promised son points forward to Christ, through whom God’s covenant promises find their fulfillment. In Christ, God saves sinners by grace, not by human merit, and accomplishes completely what sinful man could never accomplish. Soli Deo Gloria.

𝗖𝗛𝗜𝗟𝗗𝗥𝗘𝗡'𝗦 𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗜𝗦𝗥𝗬

The dreams came in the night, but their meaning would shape the future of an entire nation. Pharaoh had the dreams, Egypt faced an unknown famine, and Joseph stood before the most powerful man in the land.

Joseph did not claim the wisdom for himself.

"𝘐𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘯𝘰𝘵 𝘪𝘯 𝘮𝘦: 𝘎𝘰𝘥 𝘴𝘩𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘗𝘩𝘢𝘳𝘢𝘰𝘩 𝘢𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘴𝘸𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘱𝘦𝘢𝘤𝘦."

God revealed what was to come and gave Joseph wisdom to respond, displaying His sovereign hand over every event.

Through Joseph, God preserved many lives during the famine. Yet the story points beyond Joseph to Christ, the greater Savior, who came to deliver His people from sin and death. God faithfully accomplishes His purposes, and Christ has finished the work of redemption. Soli Deo Gloria.

𝗝𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗢𝗥'𝗦 𝗙𝗘𝗟𝗟𝗢𝗪𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗣 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗕𝗜𝗕𝗟𝗘 𝗦𝗧𝗨𝗗𝗬

Sin is disobedience against God and rebellion against His authority. From the beginning, man chose to reject God’s command, bringing guilt and separation from the holy Creator.

𝘍𝘰𝘳 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘴𝘪𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘥, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘳𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘨𝘭𝘰𝘳𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘎𝘰𝘥.
— Romans 3:23

The problem of sin reaches every human heart. We cannot remove our guilt through our own goodness or effort. What sinners could never accomplish, Christ accomplished completely—bearing the judgment we deserve and securing redemption through His finished work on the cross. To Him alone be all glory.

𝗚𝗼𝗱'𝘀 𝗖𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗻𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗔𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗵𝗮𝗺

God established His covenant with Abram and sovereignly promised to make him the father of many nations. He changed his name to Abraham and Sarai’s name to Sarah, signifying God’s gracious purpose in their lives. The covenant rested upon God’s promise and faithfulness, not human merit.

God commanded Abraham to circumcise himself and his household as the sign of the covenant. This outward sign distinguished those belonging to the covenant community and pointed to the need for a heart devoted to God. Abraham was called to respond to God’s gracious covenant with faith and obedience.

God promised that Sarah would bear Isaac, through whom His covenant would continue. Though Abraham and Sarah were beyond the natural expectation of having children, God would accomplish His purpose according to His sovereign will. What God promises, He is faithful to fulfill.

𝗖𝗛𝗜𝗟𝗗𝗥𝗘𝗡'𝗦 𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗬

God never depends on human effort to accomplish what He has promised. When Abram and Sarai sought to obtain God’s promise according to their own wisdom, the result was strife, sorrow, and broken relationships. Yet the Lord remained faithful to His covenant, demonstrating that His purposes cannot be advanced by human schemes nor hindered by human failure.

Patient faith honors the Lord because it rests in His character rather than in visible circumstances. The account of Hagar also reveals that God sees the afflicted and acts according to His sovereign mercy. Even amid the consequences of sin, His providence continues to unfold exactly as He has ordained.

We thank God for another opportunity to proclaim His Word to the children. Our desire is that they would learn to trust the Lord instead of themselves and find their hope in Jesus Christ, the promised Seed through whom God fulfills His covenant and brings redemption to His people.

𝗖𝗛𝗜𝗟𝗗𝗥𝗘𝗡'𝗦 𝗠𝗜𝗡𝗜𝗦𝗧𝗥𝗬

God’s providence is often most clearly displayed in places where man sees only silence and suffering. Genesis 40 taught us that Joseph’s imprisonment did not place him outside God’s sovereign care. Though forgotten by men, Joseph was never forgotten by God. Even inside the prison, the Lord was accomplishing His purpose, using Joseph to declare the meaning of the cupbearer’s and baker’s dreams according to His perfect will.

This passage taught the children that God’s promises do not depend on favorable circumstances. The Lord remained faithful while Joseph waited, and every event unfolded according to His appointed time. Our confidence rests not in what we can see but in the God who governs all things with wisdom, righteousness, and steadfast faithfulness.

Our desire is that the children would grow to trust God’s sovereign providence and look to Jesus Christ, the greater and better Joseph, who was rejected, suffered according to the Father’s will, and through His suffering brought salvation to His people. Soli Deo Gloria.

𝗝𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗢𝗥'𝗦 𝗙𝗘𝗟𝗟𝗢𝗪𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗣 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗕𝗜𝗕𝗟𝗘 𝗦𝗧𝗨𝗗𝗬

God created man to love Him because He alone is worthy of our highest affection. Sin did not begin with outward actions but with a heart that turned away from God. Adam’s fall revealed the condition of every human heart. We have all exchanged the glory of God for lesser things, loving His gifts more than the Giver and placing created things above the Creator (Romans 3:23; Romans 1:25).

Jeremiah calls God the fountain of living waters, yet sinners forsake Him and seek satisfaction in broken cisterns that can never satisfy. Wealth, success, relationships, and personal desires become idols when they occupy the place that belongs to God alone. The deepest problem of man is not the absence of goodness but the presence of a heart that refuses to treasure God above all else.

Our study pointed us to the only true hope for sinners. Jesus Christ came to save those who cannot save themselves, giving new life and a new heart that delights in God. The gospel does not simply improve behavior; it reconciles sinners to God so that He becomes their greatest joy and highest treasure. Soli Deo Gloria.
