First, giving directs our hearts upward to God. When we give, we acknowledge that everything we have already belongs to Him (Psalm 24:1). We are not owners, but stewards. This truth humbles us and reminds us to hold our possessions with open hands.
Giving also reflects Godโs very character (James 1:17). Every good and perfect gift comes from Him, and as His people, we are called to mirror that same generosity in our lives. We become living testimonies of His goodness.
Moreover, giving is an expression of our adoration (Proverbs 3:9โ10). It is not meant to be a routine obligation, but an act of honour and gratitude. The question we must ask ourselves is this: Do we give out of habit, or out of a heart that truly loves God?

Generosity also works inwardlyโit shapes and refines us. It breaks the power of greed and teaches us not to place our hope in riches (1 Timothy 6:17). In giving, we learn to trust God more than our resources.
It also cultivates joy. Scripture reminds us that โit is more blessed to give than to receiveโ (Acts 20:35). True giving produces a deep, lasting joyโnot because of what we lose, but because of what God does through us.
Lastly, giving secures an eternal investment (1 Timothy 6:19). What we shareโour time, talents, and resourcesโdoes not go to waste. Instead, it is stored in eternity. Every act of generosity becomes a deposit that reflects our faith in what truly lasts.

Generosity does not stop within usโit flows outward. Giving is not merely charity; it is an act of justice and love (1 John 3:16โ18). It meets real needs and demonstrates the heart of Christ to the world.
We are called to do good in every way we can, to everyone we can, in every season of life. True giving often involves sacrificeโit costs something. Yet it is in that sacrifice that love becomes visible. And when we give, we inspire others to give thanksโnot to us, but to God. Our generosity becomes a testimony that points people back to Him.
