ACS Gift-Giving Brings Care to 77 Families in Brgy. Nenita

MONDRAGON, Northern Samar — Seventy-seven families received assistance during a gift-giving activity held at the Nenita Seventh-day Adventist Home Division Church in Barangay Nenita, Mondragon, Northern Samar, on August 26, 2026.

The outreach was a collaborative effort of the Samar Mission, the Adventist Community Services (ACS) Departments of Catarman SDA Central Church and Nenita SDA Home Division Church, and the Mahinay Family.

Each of the 77 beneficiary families received gifts worth ₱1,000, made possible through the generosity of the Mahinay Family.

For Dannie Mahinay, one of the benefactors, the activity carried a special personal meaning. This was the second time he had supported a gift-giving activity in honor of his late wife, Merly Mahinay, who passed away three years ago. Through the outreach, the memory of his wife continues to be honored through acts of generosity that provide practical help and encouragement to families.

Church members and ACS volunteers worked together in welcoming the beneficiaries and distributing the gifts. The activity provided an opportunity not only to respond to practical needs but also to connect with families and demonstrate Christian compassion through service.

The collaboration reflected the mission of Adventist Community Services to extend the ministry of the church beyond its walls and into the community. By bringing together the Samar Mission, local ACS departments, church members, and private benefactors, the activity demonstrated how partnership can strengthen the church's ministry of compassion.

For the 77 beneficiary families, the assistance provided practical support while carrying a simple message—that they are remembered and cared for.

For the Mahinay Family, the outreach also transformed remembrance into service. Three years after Merly's passing, her memory continues to inspire generosity that reaches other families.

Through this partnership, a personal story of love and remembrance became an opportunity to serve—a reminder that compassion is made visible when people work together to bless others.
