Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints gathered at Catbalogan City Plaza for the Jesus Christ Lives Presentation on April 7, 2024 at 6pm. Led by the full-time missionaries Elder Walker, Elder Salazar, Sister Albalate, and Sister Aiono. The program showcased various church movies and hymns performed by the members.

During World War II, several LDS servicemen moved through the islands with advancing Allied forces. In 1944 and 1945, servicemen’s groups held Church meetings in many locations, and numerous LDS servicemen and service workers were still in the Philippines when the war ended. Among them were Maxine Tate and recent convert Jerome Horowitz. Both were instrumental in introducing the gospel to Aniceta Fajardo. While helping rebuild Fajardo’s house in a bombed-out area of Manila, Horowitz shared his newly found faith with Aniceta and her daughter Ruth.

Aniceta gained a testimony and desired baptism, but the Church did not authorize baptisms for Filipinos at that time because there were no permanent Church units in the islands. Elder Harold B. Lee of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles became aware of Aniceta’s desire, and in early 1946, in his capacity as chairman of the LDS Service Men’s Committee, Elder Lee approved Aniceta’s baptism. On Easter morning of 1946, Aniceta Fajardo was baptized by serviceman Loren Ferre and is now acknowledged as the first known Filipino to become a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

I have witnessed the transformative power of the atonement of Jesus Christ in my own life, bringing hope, healing, and redemption. This knowledge has transformed my life and given me a deeper understanding of my purpose here on earth. It fuels my desire to share the joy and peace that come from living the principles of the gospel with others. I am eager to dedicate my time and efforts to serving the Lord and His children.

I recognize the sacred responsibility that comes with being a representative of Jesus Christ and His Church. I am so excited to embark on this sacred journey to invite others to come to Christ and experience the blessings of His gospel.

In the most famous artwork of Jesus Christ, We are all familiar of this story in Matthew 14:22-33. Where Jesus Christ walks on the water in the midst of storm and He commanded one of His apostles Peter to come over him, when Peter started walking on the water he always focused his eyes unto Jesus but the only problem is he stopped looking towards Jesus because of his fear and immediately he sunk but Jesus Christ rescued him.

So here is the 7 lessons we learn from Peter walking on water.

1. Don't take your eyes off Jesus.
2. When Jesus commands you, Obey Him.
3. Faith is simply taking the next step.
4. Faith unleashes the supernatural
5.Fear will sink you.
6. A little faith is better than no faith
7.Jesus saves you from many things.

This story gives us alot of lessons that applicable in our daily lives. When Jesus Christ command us we must obey. Always don't take your eyes off to our Savior especially when life is a tumultuous storm, look for Jesus and keep looking to Jesus just like Peter.

Always remember that fear will sink you, when Peter had faith, he walked on the water. When he had fear, he sank in the water. The same is true for you. Fear will sink you.

Faith unleashes the supernatural, Peter did not experience the supernatural power of God that allowed him to walk on water but he trusted as evidenced by his actions.

When we have faith, we can expect God to do what man cannot.

In conclusion, faith on our savior Jesus Christ is a very significant in our lives. With faith all things are possible. It brings direction and confidence in our daily lives. It answers our questions, It helps on our burdens and struggles everyday. By faith we will be blessed knowing the truth and purpose of this life.
