Happy Birthday, Catholic Church!🔥
Happy birthday to you, who are the body of the Church!

Today, we celebrate the Pentecost Sunday, the day the Holy Spirit descended, and the Church was born.

The word Pentecost is Greek and it means "50th day." Fifty days after Easter Sunday, we celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit upon the Apostles and their followers, and the beginning of their Earthly ministry to make disciples of all nations.

At Pentecost, the Apostles and their followers were gathered in a room. Jews from all over the world were gathered with Peter, the leader of the Apostles and the Eleven. At this time, a great wind blew and a flame appeared as a tongue of fire, which split itself into many individual flames above the heads of all those present. The Holy Spirit came upon these people and each began to speak in tongues. Despite the fact many had no common language, they were perfectly able to understand one another.

The symbols of Pentecost are the flame, wind, and the dove, which represents the Holy Spirit. The color of Pentecost is red and the priest wears red vestments on this day. Red decorations as well as celebrations are appropriate, similar to any other birthday.

𝘐𝘕 𝘗𝘏𝘖𝘛𝘖𝘚 | 𝐑𝐘𝐃 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 ✨

Our Youth Delegates from Nuestra Señora de Salvacion Chapel joyfully participated in the 𝗥𝗲𝗴𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵 𝗗𝗮𝘆𝘀 (𝗥𝗬𝗗) 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 held at the Calbayog City Sports Center last April 9–12, 2026.

Together with young pilgrims from the 10 Archdioceses and Dioceses across Central and Eastern Visayas, our delegates celebrated faith, friendship, and the vibrant spirit of the youth in Christ.

𝘚𝘦𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘥 𝘚𝘶𝘯𝘥𝘢𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘌𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘳 | 𝐃𝐈𝐕𝐈𝐍𝐄 𝐌𝐄𝐑𝐂𝐘 𝐒𝐔𝐍𝐃𝐀𝐘

Today, the Church joyfully celebrates Divine Mercy Sunday, a special day reminding us of the boundless love and compassion of our Lord Jesus Christ for all humanity.

On this sacred day, we are invited to come before the Lord with trust and humility, confident that His mercy is greater than our weaknesses, failures, and fears. Through the message entrusted to Saint Faustina, Jesus revealed the depth of His loving Heart and encouraged all the faithful to return to Him with complete trust, especially through prayer, confession, and acts of charity toward others.

Divine Mercy Sunday calls each one of us to become witnesses of mercy in our families, communities, and places of service. As we receive God’s forgiveness and grace, we are also sent forth to extend compassion, understanding, and hope to those who are in need of healing and encouragement.

May this celebration renew our confidence in the Lord’s promise that His mercy is always available to those who seek Him with sincere hearts. Let us continue to pray: “Jesus, I trust in You,” and allow His mercy to transform our lives and guide us in faithful discipleship.
