PAG-ILIS SA PATRON || Last Sunday, August 23, 2026, we once again witnessed the Pag-ilis sa Patron, a cherished tradition in our parish as the image of our dear patron, St. Augustine of Hippo, was publicly vested in his 2026 Fiesta Regalia.

The Rite was presided over by Rev. Fr. Joseph L. Gabriente, together with the sponsors of this year’s Fiesta Regalia and our dedicated parish recamaderos.

As we prepare to celebrate the Solemnity of our patron and Holy Father, may this remind us of our deep love and devotion to St. Augustine, whose life continues to inspire us to seek God, love Him, and serve His Church.

VESPERAS || Let us come together as one parish in prayer and devotion as we prepare to celebrate the feast of our beloved Patron Saint and Holy Father, St. Augustine.

Our Rosary and Novena will be at 3:00 PM, followed by our Vesperas Mass at 4:30 PM, to be presided over by Rev. Fr. Jose Francisco Teves, OSA, also a Carmenanon priest.

The Solemn Foot Procession will follow immediately after the Holy Mass.

Please be guided accordingly!

5th NOVENA MASS | The Mass was presided over by Rev. Fr. Jose de Dios III and concelebrated by Rev. Fr. Ricardo Cañete, Team Moderator, and Rev. Fr. Joselito Peralta, visiting priest.

In his homily, Fr. de Dios shared that Peter boldly proclaimed who Jesus truly is: the Son of the living God.

Jesus knew Peter’s weaknesses and limitations, yet He still chose him and entrusted him with a great responsibility. He gave Peter strength and the keys, symbolizing the foundation and stability of the Church.

Fr. de Dios reminded us that Peter became a “rock” not simply because of his own strength, but because of God’s goodness and love working through him.

“Diha sa pagpadayon sa atong pagpanaw, atong kuhaan og kusog ug kaayo ang gugma sa Ginoo... We can’t rely on our own strength but only on Jesus’ love and mercy,” said Fr. de Dios.

He then reminded the faithful that our strength does not come from ourselves alone. Like Peter, we are also a work in progress through God's love and mercy.

4th NOVENA MASS | The Eucharistic Celebration was presided over by Rev. Fr. (Major) Jessie Gecain and concelebrated by Rev. Fr. William B. Alcalde, Team Member, and Rev. Fr. Joselito Peralta, visiting priest.

In his homily, Fr. Gecain highlighted that the glory of God is seen in a living faith and a living Church. He reminded us that faith is not meant to remain only in words or traditions, it should be visible in the way we live and in the way we treat others.

“Ang usa ka buhing Simbahan makita sa pagkamatinumanon, sa pagsunod ug pagtuman sa kabubut-on ug Pulong sa Dios. Sama kang Santa Monica nga nakakita ug nagpabilin sa pagtuo alang kang San Agustin," he said.

A living Church is also characterized by humility. Humble people inspire others because they do not seek attention for themselves but allow God to work through them.

Finally, a living Church is marked by service, being willing to give our time and strength to help others.

As Fr. Jessie reminded us, these are the three characteristics of a living Church that we are invited to imitate and live out: faithfulness, humility, and service. May we continue to embody these qualities in our daily lives.

3rd NOVENA MASS || Here are some scenes from the 3rd Day of our Novena Masses in honor of our Holy Father and Patron, St. Augustine of Hippo.

The Holy Mass was presided over by Rev. Fr. Venedict Into, one of the sons of our parish from Brgy. Poblacion, and concelebrated by Rev. Fr. Joseph Gabriente, one of the members of our Team of Pastors, and Rev. Fr. Joselito Peralta, also one of the sons of our parish.

In his homily, Fr. Into highlighted that when our aspirations are for God, they will come to fulfillment, and when our plans are aligned with His will, they will bear fruit and succeed. He reminded the faithful, however, that when God provides, He gives us exactly what we need, not necessarily more than what is necessary, so that we may continue to trust in His providence and depend on Him.

Furthermore, he emphasized that if we want to persevere in our journey of faith, we must remain rooted in the love of Christ. By abiding in His love, we are strengthened to face life’s challenges, remain faithful to our calling, and continue walking with the Lord with trust, humility, and hope.
