Lenten Season 2026

𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔 𝐋𝐄𝐍𝐓𝐄𝐍 𝐒𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐎𝐍 𝐀𝐍𝐃 𝐏𝐀𝐒𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐋 𝐓𝐑𝐈𝐃𝐔𝐔𝐌

Lent is a 40-day season of preparation leading up to Easter Sunday and is one of the principal liturgical seasons of the Catholic Church. It is a time of penance focused on prayer, abstinence, fasting, and almsgiving, recalling Jesus’ 40 days of fasting in the desert. Lent formally begins on Ash Wednesday and ends on Holy Thursday before the Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper. The Paschal Triduum then begins with the Evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday and concludes on Easter Sunday with Evening Prayer.

For this year's Lenten Season, it is scheduled as follows:

February 18, 2026 - Ash Wednesday
March 29, 2026 - Palm Sunday of the Lord's Passion
April 2, 2026 - Holy Thursday of the Lord's Supper
April 3, 2026 - Good Friday of the Lord's Passion
April 4, 2026 - Holy Saturday
April 5, 2026 - Easter Sunday of the Lord's Resurrection

ANG BALAANG BATA | Cebu Archbishop Alberto "Abet" Uy shares 10 reasons why the Sto. Niño is an important inspiration for all Catholics.

"The Sto. Niño reveals the heart of our Catholic faith. In Him, God shows us how He chooses to come, save, and walk with us," said Archbishop Abet.

Please be informed that the Healing Mass has been moved to January 11, 2026, which is the Second Sunday of the month.

We celebrate today the Solemnity of the Epiphany of the Lord. Today, the Church rejoices in the great mystery of God’s self-revelation to the nations. In the child born in Bethlehem, the Father makes known His saving love not only to Israel, but to all peoples of the earth. Guided by the light of a star, the Magi journey from afar, representing the nations who seek truth and are drawn by grace toward the Savior of the world.

Epiphany is a feast of light and manifestation. God reveals His glory not in royal courts or displays of power, but in humility—through a child laid in a manger. The star that leads the Magi is a sign that God continues to guide those who sincerely search for Him. Their long journey teaches that faith often requires perseverance, trust, and the courage to follow God beyond familiar paths.

The gifts offered by the Magi unveil the identity and mission of Christ. Gold proclaims Him as King, frankincense acknowledges His divinity, and myrrh foreshadows His suffering and death. In their act of worship, the Magi recognize that this child is more than a newborn—He is the long-awaited Savior, the Light who enters the darkness of the world.

The Epiphany also challenges the Church to reflect on her own mission. Having encountered Christ, the Magi return home by another way, transformed by their meeting with the Lord. Likewise, all who truly encounter Jesus are called to be changed—to live differently, to love more deeply, and to bear witness to the light they have received.

As the Church celebrates the Epiphany of the Lord, she proclaims that Christ is revealed in every place where faith seeks Him: in the Eucharist, in the poor, in the stranger, and in the everyday moments of life. May this solemnity renew in us the desire to seek Christ with sincere hearts, to adore Him with humble faith, and to reflect His light so that all nations may come to know the joy of His saving presence.

O Christ, we adore You!

As we welcome the New Year, we begin it in the most meaningful way—with Jesus and Mary.
On January 1, the Church celebrates the Solemnity of Mary, the Mother of God, reminding us that every new beginning is best entrusted to God through the loving intercession of our Blessed Mother.

Let us offer the coming year to the Lord in the Holy Mass, thanking Him for the gift of life, family, and faith, and asking Mary to walk with us as she did with Jesus—guiding us with her humility, faith, and trust in God’s will.
