Meet the Conductors of the 4th Diocesan Choral Competition

Conductor, St. Joseph Mission Choir
The Choir Master of the Saint Joseph Mission Choir and the appointed Head of the Ministry of Liturgical Music of St. Joseph the Worker Parish in Cutcut, Capas, Tarlac.
He began his journey in music ministry in 2015, shortly after finishing high school. Although he humbly considers his voice as not exceptional and had no formal musical training, his willingness to serve led him to join the parish choir. With an academic background as a graduate of Bachelor of Secondary Education major in MAPEH, he relied on his passion, faith, and experience to grow in the ministry.
Starting as an ordinary choir member, Marvin was driven by a desire to help his group sing better and serve more meaningfully. During the pandemic, he stepped up as a leader and found the courage to form a new group in 2020, inspired by a challenge he once heard: โIf you want to form another choir group, then build one.โ This marked the beginning of the Saint Joseph Male Choir, where he served as conductor.
As the group expanded and evolved, he later became the Choir Master of the Saint Joseph Mission Choir, especially with the growth of the ministry under the guidance of a new parish priest. Under his leadership, the choir developed into a full SATB ensemble and actively served not only in parish liturgies but also in nearby communities and churches.
As a conductor, Marvin has led the choir in various competitions, including Christmas Choral Competitions, Musica Sacra, and Diocesan Choral Competitions, contributing to the groupโs musical and spiritual growth.
Beyond music, he sees his role as a mission of formation and service. As a leader, he strives to guide, support, and develop the members not only in their musical abilities but also in their personal and spiritual lives. He is especially passionate about encouraging young peopleโwhether skilled in singing or notโto join and serve in the ministry. Inspired by Christโs call to be โfishers of men,โ he continues to invite and form youth who are willing to offer their talents in service to God.
