AUGUST 22 | THE QUEENSHIP OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY

The Biblical precedent in ancient Israel is that the mother of the king becomes the queen mother. Mary’s queenship is a share in Jesus’ kingship.

The Roman Catholic Church, in the liturgy, points to Mary as the woman clothed with the sun in the Book of Revelation (12:1): “A great sign appeared in the sky, a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet, and on her head a crown of twelve stars.” The Church sees Revelation 12 as a reference to Israel, to Mary, and the Church as a Threefold symbolism through the Book of Isaiah and affirms, Mary as the mother of the Emmanuel, “God-with-us” (cf. Is 7:14). In the fourth century, St. Ephrem called Mary “Lady” and “Queen”.

Later Church Fathers and Doctors continued to use the title. The first Mariological definition and basis for the title of Mary Queen of Heaven developed at the Council of Ephesus where Mary was defined to be the Mother of God.

PRAYER: O God, who made the Mother of your Son to be our Mother and our Queen, graciously grant that, sustained by her intercession, we may attain in the heavenly Kingdom the glory promised to your children. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Empowered to Lead, Inspired to Serve!

The Parish Youth Apostolate of Cantilan (PYA) successfully hosted a Leadership Training for Chapel Youth Leaders at the beautiful New Tilang Beach Resort!

With the guidance of our inspiring speakers, Fr. Dennis Rey Ortojan, Spiritual Director of PYA, and Fr. Antonio Galela, Parish Priest, our youth leaders were equipped with valuable insights and experiences to become more confident, responsible, and servant-hearted leaders.

The training was filled with fun and meaningful activities designed to enhance leadership skills, strengthen teamwork, build camaraderie, and develop a deeper sense of service and commitment. Through every activity, challenge, and shared laughter, our chapel youth leaders learned that great leadership is not only about leading others—it is also about serving, listening, working together, and growing together.

A day of learning, friendship, teamwork, and faith—a beautiful reminder that young people empowered by faith can lead with purpose and serve with love.

Padayon, Chapel Youth Leaders! Lead with faith. Serve with love. Inspire others.

“What is taking our time, energy, and talents?”

In his homily during the 235th Patronal Fiesta Celebration, Bishop Raul B. Dael reminds us to reflect on how we use the gifts God has entrusted to us.

Like Mary, may we offer our time, strength, and talents in serving God and others—not only for ourselves, but for His greater glory.

VIVA LA VIRGEN! | 235TH PATRONAL FIESTA

With grateful hearts, we joyfully celebrated our 235th Patronal Fiesta on August 15, 2026, gathered as one parish family around the Eucharist. The Fiesta Mass was presided over by Most Rev. Raul B. Dael, DD, together with the concelebrating priests.

This celebration was also a grace-filled moment as we welcomed and witnessed the formal installation of Rev. Fr. Antonio M. Galela as our Parish Priest. We entrust his ministry to the Lord and pray that he may faithfully shepherd our parish with humility, compassion, and love.

For 235 years, the Immaculate Conception has accompanied us in our journey of faith. May Mary continue to lead us always to Jesus and inspire us to become a parish that listens, serves, forgives, and loves.

Viva Immaculada Concepción!
