At the Heart of the Liturgy: Celebrating Altar Serversโ€™ Month

Every act of service within the Church holds deep meaning, but few ministries reflect silent dedication as beautifully as the role of the altar server. As we celebrate Altar Serversโ€™ Month, we take this opportunity to recognize and honor the young hearts who stand beside the altarโ€”serving with quiet devotion and unwavering reverence.

Altar servers assist in the sacred liturgy, ensuring that every celebration is carried out with order, solemnity, and grace. Though their movements may appear simpleโ€”carrying candles, holding the missal, preparing the altar, or ringing the bellsโ€”each task is an act of prayer and a contribution to the worshiping communityโ€™s encounter with the divine.

This ministry is often one of the first steps in a young personโ€™s journey of faith. It teaches discipline, punctuality, attentiveness, and above all, love for the Holy Eucharist. Altar servers learn to find joy in quiet service, to grow in reverence for the sacred, and to develop a deeper relationship with God. In many cases, this humble beginning leads to a lifelong commitment to the Churchโ€”some even discerning vocations to the priesthood or religious life.

Let us not forget that altar serving is not merely a role during Mass, but a reflection of a heart willing to serve, not to be seen or praised, but to glorify God. Their quiet presence at the altar is a reminder that holiness is often found in the simple and the unseen.

As we observe this month, may our communities take the time to express gratitude to our altar servers. May we support and encourage them in their journey, pray for their continued growth in faith, and recognize the sacred value of their presence. Indeed, they are not just assisting at the altarโ€”they are shaping the future of the Church.

July 06, 2025 | Sunday

On this 14th Sunday in Ordinary Time, we are reminded that true peace comes not from the world, but from the One who sends us out with His Spirit. May we go forth with joy, humility, and faith, just like the disciples โ€” trusting that God walks with us always.

Today, we honor two of the greatest saints who shaped the early Church โ€” Saint Peter, the rock upon whom Christ built His Church, and Saint Paul, the tireless missionary who brought the Gospel to the nations. Though they had different paths, backgrounds, and personalities, they were united in one mission: to proclaim Jesus Christ to the world.

Saint Peter reminds us of the power of humility, forgiveness, and steadfast faith. A fisherman called to lead, he stumbled but rose again, and became the first shepherd of the Church.
Saint Paul teaches us courage, conversion, and boldness in spreading the truth โ€” once a persecutor, now a preacher of salvation to the Gentiles.

Together, their lives tell the story of how God can use the weak to do great things, and how our past never defines our future in Christ.

As we reflect on their witness, may we, too, find the strength to say โ€œyesโ€ to our calling โ€” to serve, to lead, to love, and to live for something greater than ourselves.

In the gentle silence of her heart, the Blessed Mother teaches us love, humility, and surrender. Today, we honor the Immaculate Heart of Maryโ€”a heart full of grace, free from sin, and entirely devoted to the will of God.

May her Immaculate Heart be our refuge in times of sorrow and our model of purity and compassion. As we reflect on her maternal love, may we also seek to imitate her unwavering โ€œyesโ€ to the Lord.

Immaculate Heart of Mary, pray for us.

The Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus is a celebration of Christโ€™s deep and personal love for humanity. It is observed every year on the Friday after the second Sunday of Pentecost. The image of His heart, crowned with thorns and aflame with love, reminds us of the pain He endured and the mercy He continues to offer. This devotion calls us to trust in Him, seek His forgiveness, and share His love with others. Common practices include attending Mass, praying the Litany of the Sacred Heart, and offering acts of reparation for sins.

On June 22, 2025, we celebrate Corpus Christi, a solemn feast that highlights one of the greatest mysteries of our Catholic faith: the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. Instituted by Jesus at the Last Supper and continued in every Holy Mass, the Eucharist is not just a symbolโ€”it is Christ Himself, truly present in Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity.

The celebration of Corpus Christi began in the 13th century, following Eucharistic miracles and the deep devotion of St. Juliana of Liรจge. It was officially established by Pope Urban IV in 1264, and has since become a worldwide expression of our reverence for the Blessed Sacrament.

Traditionally, this feast is marked by Eucharistic processions, where the consecrated Host is carried through the streets in a monstrance, allowing the faithful to honor Christ publicly and adore Him outside the walls of the church.

We wear white todayโ€”a color symbolizing joy, purity, and the glory of Christ.
May this feast remind us of the immense gift of the Eucharist, the source and summit of our Christian life.

โ€œThis is my body, which will be given up for you.โ€ โ€“ Luke 22:19
