According to some sources, Nahom is a place name mentioned in the Book of Mormon, where Ishmael, the father-in-law of Nephi, was buried. Some Latter-day Saint scholars have argued that Nahom corresponds to the Nihm region in Yemen, which is located northeast of Sana'a, west of Ma'rib, and south of the Wadi Jawf. The location fits well with the directions given in the Book of Mormon for getting to and from Nahom. Moreover, there is archaeological evidence that the name Nihm goes back to the time of Lehi, based on inscriptions on altars that refer to a person called a nhmyn, translated as "Nihmite". Near the Nihm region, a funerary stela with the name y s 1mʿʾl, the South Arabian equivalent of Ishmael, was also found and dated to around the 6th century BC.

In the sacred pages of the Book of Mormon, a profound connection emerges as we explore the narrative of Ishmael's burial. According to the scripture, Ishmael found his final resting place in a location referred to as Nahom. Remarkably, modern scholars have delved into the intricacies of this account, discovering compelling evidence that links this sacred narrative to real-world archaeological findings.

Nahom, as mentioned in the Book of Mormon, has been identified by many scholars with the Nihm tribal region in Yemen. This connection gains further significance when we encounter an archaeological gem – a funerary stela discovered in the proximity of this region. Inscribed upon it is the name "Ishmael," presented in a South Arabian script that dates back to the time of Lehi.

The alignment between the Book of Mormon narrative and this archaeological discovery is nothing short of extraordinary. It raises profound questions about the intricate interplay between sacred texts and the tangible remnants of history.
