San Antonio de Padua (1195–1231) was a Franciscan priest born in Lisbon and is one of the most beloved saints in the Catholic Church. He was known for his deep knowledge of Scripture, powerful preaching, humility, and love for the poor.
He is often depicted holding the Child Jesus and white lilies.

The lilies symbolize purity, while the Child Jesus recalls a vision in which the Infant Jesus appeared to him.
San Antonio is widely known as the Patron Saint of Lost Things, and many devotees pray for his intercession when searching for lost objects, guidance, or direction in life.

He died on June 13, 1231, in Padua. Because of his holiness and miracles, he was canonized less than a year after his death by Pope Gregory IX.

"San Antonio de Padua, patron sang mga nagapangita sang nadula kag madinalag-on nga manugwali sang Pulong sang Dios. Ang iya kabuhi isa ka halimbawa sang pagtuo, pagkamapainubuson, kag paghigugma sa isigkatawo. Kabay pa nga ang iya pagpangamuyo maggiya kag magpanalangin sa aton tanan."

Holy Trinity Sunday Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity
It’s celebrated on the first Sunday after Pentecost. In 2026 it falls on Sunday, May 31, 2026

It honors the Christian doctrine of the Trinity: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit one God in three Persons. In the Roman Catholic Church it’s officially called the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity.

BEC Sunday Basic Ecclesial Community Sunday
In the Philippines, the CBCP declared that every Holy Trinity Sunday will also be celebrated as BEC Sunday. BECs are small parish-based communities of families who gather around the Word of God and Eucharist.

So for 2026: BEC Sunday May 31, 2026, same day as Holy Trinity Sunday. This year’s CBCP theme for BEC Sunday is “BECs as Locus of Synodality: Hope to Our Wounded World”.

The connection: BEC Sunday is held on Trinity Sunday because BEC communion is patterned after the unity-in-diversity of the Triune God.
