TOMORROW, ORDINARY TIME CONTINUES
Tomorrow, after the joyful celebration of Pentecost Sunday, the Church returns to the rhythm of Ordinary Time beginning Monday, May 25, 2026.
The second season of Ordinary Time in the 2026 liturgical calendar runs until November 28, 2026, covering Weeks 8 to 34 before the beginning of Advent.
Though it is called โOrdinary,โ this season is far from unimportant. The word comes from the Latin ordinalis, meaning โnumbered,โ as the weeks are counted in order. During this time, the Church reflects on the public ministry of Christ โ His teachings, miracles, compassion, and call to discipleship.
After receiving the fire of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost, we are now sent forth into mission. Ordinary Time reminds us that holiness is lived not only during great feasts and celebrations, but also in the quiet, ordinary moments of daily life. In our prayers, sacrifices, acts of kindness, forgiveness, and faithfulness, Christ continues to work within us.
The liturgical color for Ordinary Time is green, symbolizing growth, hope, and spiritual renewal. As the Church journeys forward, may we continue growing in faith and bearing the fruits of the Holy Spirit in our everyday lives.
