CFD NATIONAL REITERATES & ANNOUNCES POLICY ON SYNCHRONIZATION OF ELECTIONS 2025
Davao City, February 24, 2013 – The Catholic Faith Defenders (CFD) National Office has officially approved CFD Policy No. 2012-14: Synchronization of Elections, aimed at streamlining the election process across all organizational levels. This policy ensures a well-ordered and systematic approach to electing leaders at the parochial, diocesan, and national levels in accordance with the CFD Constitution and By-Laws.
Objective of the Policy
Article V, Section 4 of the CFD Constitution and By-Laws mandates that the National Assembly shall consist of members from various diocesan assemblies, with voting rights accorded to no fewer than five (5) and no more than fifteen (15) members per diocese. Additionally, the Board of Stewards from each diocesan assembly shall automatically serve as delegates to the National Assembly.
To uphold this structure, the elections for the Diocesan Board of Stewards must precede the elections for the National Board of Governors, while elections for the Parochial Board of Trustees must be conducted prior to those for the Diocesan Board of Stewards.
Policy Guidelines for Election Schedule
Parochial Board of Trustees Elections – Elections will take place every MARCH in the year of a National Board of Governors election. Parochial chapters must submit their new set of officers and an updated list of members in good standing to the National Office.
Diocesan Board of Stewards Elections – Elections will be conducted in APRIL of the same election year. Diocesan chapters must then provide the National Office with their updated list of officers and recognized parochial chapters.
National Board of Governors Elections – Elections will occur in MAY every third year, coinciding with the CFD National Annual Convention.
Implementation and Promulgation
The Board of Governors, Stewards, and Trustees shall be responsible for implementing this policy.
Approved during the Board of Governors meeting in Davao City on February 24, 2013, this policy is set to standardize election timelines across all CFD chapters nationwide.
