THE DANGEROUS WICKED TONGUE
ANG MAPANGANIB NA MASAMANG DILA

JAMES 3:3-5
Behold, we put bits in the horses' mouths, that they may obey us; and we turn about their whole body.
Behold also the ships, which though they be so great, and are driven of fierce winds, yet are they turned about with a very small helm, whithersoever the governor listeth.
Even so the tongue is a little member, and boasteth great things. Behold, how great a matter a little fire kindleth!

Kung atin ngang inilalagay ang mga preno ng kabayo sa kanilang mga bibig, upang tayo'y talimahin, ay ibinabaling din naman natin ang kanilang buong katawan.
Narito, ang mga daong naman, bagama't lubhang malalaki at itinutulak ng malalakas na hangin, gayon ma'y sa pamamagitan ng isang lubhang maliit na ugit ay napapabaling kung saan ibig ng tagaugit.
Gayon din naman ang dila ay isang maliit na sangkap, at nagpapalalo ng malalaking bagay. Narito, kung gaano kalaking gubat ang pinagaalab ng lubhang maliit na apoy!

And the tongue is a fire, a world of iniquity: so is the tongue among our members, that it defileth the whole body, and setteth on fire the course of nature; and it is set on fire of hell.

But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison.

Kayong lahi ng mga ulupong, papaano kayo na masasama, ay makapagsasalita ng mabubuting bagay? sapagka't sa kasaganaan ng puso ay nagsasalita ang bibig.

PROVERBS 13:3
He that keepeth his mouth keepeth his life: but he that openeth wide his lips shall have destruction.

3.LET US TEACH OUR MOUTH TO SPEAK PLEASANT WORDS
The heart of the wise teacheth his mouth, and addeth learning to his lips.
Pleasant words are as an honeycomb, sweet to the soul, and health to the bones.

Ang puso ng pantas ay nagtuturo sa kaniyang bibig, at nagdaragdag ng katututuhan sa kaniyang mga labi.
Mga maligayang salita ay parang pulot-pukyutan, matamis sa kaluluwa at kagalingan sa mga buto.

A friendly reminder to the Christian Filipino Worker:

It is written:
“Whatever your task, put yourselves into it, as done for the Lord and not for your masters, since you know that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward; you serve the Lord Christ.”
(Colossians 3:23-24 NRSV)

We are specifically told that we “are serving the Lord Jeus Christ” and not just our employers. The Lord is the one who will reward us in the end, not the employer.

And if you believe that if all your works is for the Lord you will definitely do as follows:

1) work with all your might as it is written:
“in your toil at which you toil under the sun. Whatever your hand finds to do, do with your might; for there is no work or thought or knowledge or wisdom in Sheol, to which you are going.” (Ecclesiastes 9:9b-10 NRSV)

We have to give it our best in all our actions. But we should also remember that:

2) There is no quick way to money or success as it is written:
“Those who till their land will have plenty of food, but those who follow worthless pursuits have no sense.” (Proverbs 12:11 NRSV)

The dictionary is the only place where success comes before work. But in the real Christian way of living there are no elevators for success but a ladder where you have to work putting on your foot one step at a time, and that would mean hard work.

3) be hardworking like an ant and not be sluggard for it is written:

"6 Go to the ant, you lazybones; consider its ways, and be wise. 7 Without having any chief or officer or ruler, 8 it prepares its food in summer, and gathers its sustenance in harvest. 9 How long will you lie there, O lazybones? When will you rise from your sleep? 10 A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest, 11 and poverty will come upon you like a robber, and want, like an armed warrior."
(Proverbs 6:6-11 NRSV)

If we are not to work like an ant and be sluggard then poverty will surely be on us like a robber.
As it is writte :

4) you should be ashamed to eat if you did not work as it is written:
"“For even when we were with you, we gave you this command: Anyone unwilling to work should not eat.." (2 Thessalonians 3:10 NRSV)

My dear brethren work is important in the lives of each and every Christian family, every bread winner of each family should work to provide for his household as it is written:

"And whoever does not provide for relatives, and especially for family members, has denied the faith and is worse than an unbeliever." (1Timothy 5:8 NRSV)

So my brethren in every work that we do let us always remember that we should do it as if we are working for our Lord Jesus Christ.

And finally let us do all things for the Glory of GOD as it is written:

"Therefore, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of GOD." (NKJV)
