โ—๐Ÿ“– Exodus 3
1. Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father in law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb.
2 And the angel of the LORD appeared unto him in a flame of fire out of the midst of a bush: and he looked, and, behold, the bush burned with fire, and the bush was not consumed.
3 And Moses said, I will now turn aside, and see this great sight, why the bush is not burnt.
4 And when the LORD saw that he turned aside to see, God called unto him out of the midst of the bush, and said, Moses, Moses. And he said, Here am I.
5 And he said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.
6 Moreover he said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God.
7 And the LORD said, I have surely seen the affliction of my people which are in Egypt, and have heard their cry by reason of their taskmasters; for I know their sorrows;
8 And I am come down to deliver them out of the hand of the Egyptians, and to bring them up out of that land unto a good land and a large, unto a land flowing with milk and honeyโ€ฆ
9 Now therefore, behold, the cry of the children of Israel is come unto meโ€ฆ
10 Come now therefore, and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt.

11 And Moses said unto God, Who am I, that I should go unto Pharaohโ€ฆ
12 And he said, Certainly I will be with theeโ€ฆ

13 And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israelโ€ฆ what is his name?
14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AMโ€ฆ Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.
15 โ€ฆThe LORD God of your fathersโ€ฆ this is my name for everโ€ฆ

16 Go, and gather the elders of Israel togetherโ€ฆ
17 And I have said, I will bring you up out of the affliction of Egyptโ€ฆ
18 And they shall hearken to thy voiceโ€ฆ
19 And I am sure that the king of Egypt will not let you goโ€ฆ
20 And I will stretch out my hand, and smite Egypt with all my wondersโ€ฆ
21 And I will give this people favour in the sight of the Egyptiansโ€ฆ

๐Ÿ“– Exodus 4

1 And Moses answered and said, But, behold, they will not believe meโ€ฆ
2 And the LORD said unto him, What is that in thine hand? And he said, A rod.
3 And he said, Cast it on the groundโ€ฆ and it became a serpentโ€ฆ
4 โ€ฆPut forth thine hand, and take it by the tailโ€ฆ and it became a rod again.

5 That they may believe that the LORD Godโ€ฆ hath appeared unto thee.

6 And the LORD said furthermore unto him, Put now thine hand into thy bosomโ€ฆ and when he took it out, behold, his hand was leprous as snow.
7 And he said, Put thine hand into thy bosom againโ€ฆ and it was turned again as his other flesh.

8 And it shall come to pass, if they will not believe theeโ€ฆ they will believe the latter sign.
9 And if it shall come to pass, they will not believe also these two signsโ€ฆ thou shalt take of the water of the river, and pour it upon the dry landโ€ฆ

10 And Moses said unto the LORD, O my Lord, I am not eloquentโ€ฆ but I am slow of speechโ€ฆ
11 And the LORD said unto him, Who hath made manโ€™s mouth?โ€ฆ
12 Now therefore go, and I will be with thy mouth, and teach thee what thou shalt say.

13 And he said, O my Lord, send, I pray thee, by the hand of him whom thou wilt send.
14 And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Moses, and he said, Is not Aaron the Levite thy brother?โ€ฆ I know that he can speak wellโ€ฆ
15 And thou shalt speak unto himโ€ฆ and I will be with thy mouth, and with his mouthโ€ฆ
16 And he shall be thy spokesman unto the peopleโ€ฆ

18 And Moses went and returned to Jethroโ€ฆ
19 And the LORD said unto Moses in Midian, Go, return into Egyptโ€ฆ
20 And Moses took his wife and his sonsโ€ฆ and returned to the land of Egyptโ€ฆ

24 And it came to pass by the way in the inn, that the LORD met himโ€ฆ
25 Then Zipporah took a sharp stone, and cut off the fo****in of her sonโ€ฆ
26 So he let him goโ€ฆ

27 And the LORD said to Aaron, Go into the wilderness to meet Mosesโ€ฆ
29 And Moses and Aaron went and gathered together all the elders of the children of Israel:
30 And Aaron spake all the words which the LORD had spoken unto Mosesโ€ฆ
31 And the people believedโ€ฆ and they bowed their heads and worshipped.

1 These are the names of the sons of Israel who went to Egypt with Jacob, each with his family: 2 Reuben, Simeon, Levi and Judah; 3 Issachar, Zebulun and Benjamin; 4 Dan and Naphtali; Gad and Asher. 5 The descendants of Jacob numbered seventy[a] in all; Joseph was already in Egypt.

6 Now Joseph and all his brothers and all that generation died, 7 but the Israelites were exceedingly fruitful; they multiplied greatly, increased in numbers and became so numerous that the land was filled with them.

8 Then a new king, to whom Joseph meant nothing, came to power in Egypt. 9 โ€œLook,โ€ he said to his people, โ€œthe Israelites have become far too numerous for us. 10 Come, we must deal shrewdly with them or they will become even more numerous and, if war breaks out, will join our enemies, fight against us and leave the country.โ€

11 So they put slave masters over them to oppress them with forced labor, and they built Pithom and Rameses as store cities for Pharaoh. 12 But the more they were oppressed, the more they multiplied and spread; so the Egyptians came to dread the Israelites 13 and worked them ruthlessly. 14 They made their lives bitter with harsh labor in brick and mortar and with all kinds of work in the fields; in all their harsh labor the Egyptians worked them ruthlessly.

22 Then Pharaoh gave this order to all his people: โ€œEvery Hebrew boy that is born you must throw into the Nile, but let every girl live.โ€

The Birth of Moses
2 Now a man of the tribe of Levi married a Levite woman, 2 and she became pregnant and gave birth to a son. When she saw that he was a fine child, she hid him for three months. 3 But when she could hide him no longer, she got a papyrus basket[a] for him and coated it with tar and pitch. Then she placed the child in it and put it among the reeds along the bank of the Nile. 4 His sister stood at a distance to see what would happen to him.

5 Then Pharaohโ€™s daughter went down to the Nile to bathe, and her attendants were walking along the riverbank. She saw the basket among the reeds and sent her female slave to get it. 6 She opened it and saw the baby. He was crying, and she felt sorry for him. โ€œThis is one of the Hebrew babies,โ€ she said.

7 Then his sister asked Pharaohโ€™s daughter, โ€œShall I go and get one of the Hebrew women to nurse the baby for you?โ€

8 โ€œYes, go,โ€ she answered. So the girl went and got the babyโ€™s mother. 9 Pharaohโ€™s daughter said to her, โ€œTake this baby and nurse him for me, and I will pay you.โ€ So the woman took the baby and nursed him. 10 When the child grew older, she took him to Pharaohโ€™s daughter and he became her son. She named him Moses,[b] saying, โ€œI drew him out of the water.โ€

๐Ÿ“œ.in the land where his father had stayed, the land of Cana
2 This is the account of Jacobโ€™s family line.Joseph, a young man of seventeen, was tending the flocks with his brothers, the sons of Bilhah and the sons of Zilpah, his fatherโ€™s wives, and he brought their father a bad report about them.
3 Now Israel loved Joseph more than any of his other sons, because he had been born to him in his old age; and he made an ornate[a] robe for him. 4 When his brothers saw that their father loved him more than any of them, they hated him and could not speak a kind word to him.

5 Joseph had a dream, and when he told it to his brothers, they hated him all the more. 6 He said to them, โ€œListen to this dream I had: 7 We were binding sheaves of grain out in the field when suddenly my sheaf rose and stood upright, while your sheaves gathered around mine and bowed down to it.โ€

8 His brothers said to him, โ€œDo you intend to reign over us? Will you actually rule us?โ€ And they hated him all the more because of his dream and what he had said.

9 Then he had another dream, and he told it to his brothers. โ€œListen,โ€ he said, โ€œI had another dream, and this time the sun and moon and eleven stars were bowing down to me.โ€

10 When he told his father as well as his brothers, his father rebuked him and said, โ€œWhat is this dream you had? Will your mother and I and your brothers actually come and bow down to the ground before you?โ€ 11 His brothers were jealous of him, but his father kept the matter in mind.

Joseph Sold by His Brothers
12 Now his brothers had gone to graze their fatherโ€™s flocks near Shechem, 13 and Israel said to Joseph, โ€œAs you know, your brothers are grazing the flocks near Shechem. Come, I am going to send you to them.โ€

โ€œVery well,โ€ he replied.

14 So he said to him, โ€œGo and see if all is well with your brothers and with the flocks, and bring word back to me.โ€ Then he sent him off from the Valley of Hebron.

When Joseph arrived at Shechem, 15 a man found him wandering around in the fields and asked him, โ€œWhat are you looking for?โ€

16 He replied, โ€œIโ€™m looking for my brothers. Can you tell me where they are grazing their flocks?โ€

17 โ€œThey have moved on from here,โ€ the man answered. โ€œI heard them say, โ€˜Letโ€™s go to Dothan.โ€™โ€

So Joseph went after his brothers and found them near Dothan. 18 But they saw him in the distance, and before he reached them, they plotted to kill him.

19 โ€œHere comes that dreamer!โ€ they said to each other. 20 โ€œCome now, letโ€™s kill him and throw him into one of these cisterns and say that a ferocious animal devoured him. Then weโ€™ll see what comes of his dreams.โ€

21 When Reuben heard this, he tried to rescue him from their hands. โ€œLetโ€™s not take his life,โ€ he said. 22 โ€œDonโ€™t shed any blood. Throw him into this cistern here in the wilderness, but donโ€™t lay a hand on him.โ€ Reuben said this to rescue him from them and take him back to his father.

23 So when Joseph came to his brothers, they stripped him of his robeโ€”the ornate robe he was wearingโ€” 24 and they took him and threw him into the cistern. The cistern was empty; there was no water in it.

25 As they sat down to eat their meal, they looked up and saw a caravan of Ishmaelites coming from Gilead. Their camels were loaded with spices, balm and myrrh, and they were on their way to take them down to Egypt.

26 Judah said to his brothers, โ€œWhat will we gain if we kill our brother and cover up his blood? 27 Come, letโ€™s sell him to the Ishmaelites and not lay our hands on him; after all, he is our brother, our own flesh and blood.โ€ His brothers agreed.

28 So when the Midianite merchants came by, his brothers pulled Joseph up out of the cistern and sold him for twenty shekels[b] of silver to the Ishmaelites, who took him to Egypt.

29 When Reuben returned to the cistern and saw that Joseph was not there, he tore his clothes. 30 He went back to his brothers and said, โ€œThe boy isnโ€™t there! Where can I turn now?โ€

31 Then they got Josephโ€™s robe, slaughtered a goat and dipped the robe in the blood. 32 They took the ornate robe back to their father and said, โ€œWe found this. Examine it to see whether it is your sonโ€™s robe.โ€

33 He recognized it and said, โ€œIt is my sonโ€™s robe! Some ferocious animal has devoured him. Joseph has surely been torn to pieces.โ€

34 Then Jacob tore his clothes, put on sackcloth and mourned for his son many days. 35 All his sons and daughters came to comfort him, but he refused to be comforted. โ€œNo,โ€ he said, โ€œI will continue to mourn until I join my son in the grave.โ€ So his father wept for him.

๐Ÿ“œ Genesis 7:The Lord then said to Noah, โ€œGo into the ark, you and your whole family, because I have found you righteous in this generation. 2 Take with you seven pairs of every kind of clean animal, a male and its mate, and one pair of every kind of unclean animal, a male and its mate, 3 and also seven pairs of every kind of bird, male and female, to keep their various kinds alive throughout the earth. 4 Seven days from now I will send rain on the earth for forty days and forty nights, and I will wipe from the face of the earth every living creature I have made.โ€

5 And Noah did all that the Lord commanded him.

6 Noah was six hundred years old when the floodwaters came on the earth. 7 And Noah and his sons and his wife and his sonsโ€™ wives entered the ark to escape the waters of the flood. 8 Pairs of clean and unclean animals, of birds and of all creatures that move along the ground, 9 male and female, came to Noah and entered the ark, as God had commanded Noah. 10 And after the seven days the floodwaters came on the earth.

11 In the six hundredth year of Noahโ€™s life, on the seventeenth day of the second monthโ€”on that day all the springs of the great deep burst forth, and the floodgates of the heavens were opened. 12 And rain fell on the earth forty days and forty nights.

13 On that very day Noah and his sons, Shem, Ham and Japheth, together with his wife and the wives of his three sons, entered the ark. 14 They had with them every wild animal according to its kind, all livestock according to their kinds, every creature that moves along the ground according to its kind and every bird according to its kind, everything with wings. 15 Pairs of all creatures that have the breath of life in them came to Noah and entered the ark. 16 The animals going in were male and female of every living thing, as God had commanded Noah. Then the Lord shut him in.

17 For forty days the flood kept coming on the earth, and as the waters increased they lifted the ark high above the earth. 18 The waters rose and increased greatly on the earth, and the ark floated on the surface of the water. 19 They rose greatly on the earth, and all the high mountains under the entire heavens were covered. 20 The waters rose and covered the mountains to a depth of more than fifteen cubits.[a][b] 21 Every living thing that moved on land perishedโ€”birds, livestock, wild animals, all the creatures that swarm over the earth, and all mankind. 22 Everything on dry land that had the breath of life in its nostrils died. 23 Every living thing on the face of the earth was wiped out; people and animals and the creatures that move along the ground and the birds were wiped from the earth. Only Noah was left, and those with him in the ark.

24 The waters flooded the earth for a hundred and fifty days.

Jesus Feeds the Five Thousand

13 When Jesus heard what had happened, he withdrew by boat privately to a solitary place. Hearing of this, the crowds followed him on foot from the towns. 14 When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them and healed their sick.

15 As evening approached, the disciples came to him and said, โ€œThis is a remote place, and itโ€™s already getting late. Send the crowds away, so they can go to the villages and buy themselves some food.โ€

16 Jesus replied, โ€œThey do not need to go away. You give them something to eat.โ€

17 โ€œWe have here only five loaves of bread and two fish,โ€ they answered.

18 โ€œBring them here to me,โ€ he said. 19 And he directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people. 20 They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. 21 The number of those who ate was about five thousand men, besides women and children.

The Parable of the Great Banquet

15 When one of those at the table with him heard this, he said to Jesus, โ€œBlessed is the one who will eat at the feast in the kingdom of God.โ€

16 Jesus replied: โ€œA certain man was preparing a great banquet and invited many guests. 17 At the time of the banquet he sent his servant to tell those who had been invited, โ€˜Come, for everything is now ready.โ€™

18 โ€œBut they all alike began to make excuses. The first said, โ€˜I have just bought a field, and I must go and see it. Please excuse me.โ€™

19 โ€œAnother said, โ€˜I have just bought five yoke of oxen, and Iโ€™m on my way to try them out. Please excuse me.โ€™

20 โ€œStill another said, โ€˜I just got married, so I canโ€™t come.โ€™

21 โ€œThe servant came back and reported this to his master. Then the owner of the house became angry and ordered his servant, โ€˜Go out quickly into the streets and alleys of the town and bring in the poor, the crippled, the blind and the lame.โ€™

22 โ€œโ€˜Sir,โ€™ the servant said, โ€˜what you ordered has been done, but there is still room.โ€™

23 โ€œThen the master told his servant, โ€˜Go out to the roads and country lanes and compel them to come in, so that my house will be full. 24 I tell you, not one of those who were invited will get a taste of my banquet.โ€™โ€

The Parable of the Lost Sheep ๐Ÿ‘

1 Now the tax collectors and sinners were all gathering around to hear Jesus.
2 But the Pharisees and the teachers of the law muttered, โ€œThis man welcomes sinners and eats with them.โ€

3 Then Jesus told them this parable:
4 โ€œSuppose one of you has a hundred sheep and loses one of them. Doesnโ€™t he leave the ninety-nine in the open country and go after the lost sheep until he finds it?
5 And when he finds it, he joyfully puts it on his shoulders
6 and goes home. Then he calls his friends and neighbors together and says, โ€˜Rejoice with me; I have found my lost sheep.โ€™
7 I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.
