TOMORROW IS THE SOLEMNITY OF THE ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY

Tomorrow, August 15, the Catholic Church celebrates the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary—the glorious truth that Mary, at the end of her earthly life, was taken body and soul into heavenly glory.

The Assumption reminds us that Mary’s life was always directed toward God. Her “yes” to God, her humility, faithfulness, and perseverance led her to share uniquely in the glory of her Son, Jesus Christ.

As we celebrate this beautiful Marian solemnity, may Mary teach us to trust God even when we do not understand His plans. May she remind us that our earthly journey does not end in suffering or death, but points toward the hope of eternal life with God. 🙏💙

AUGUST LITURGICAL CALENDAR (Overview)

August is often considered the transitional month in our seasonal calendar. The Church, in her holy wisdom, has provided a cycle of events in its liturgical year that allows the faithful to celebrate the major feasts in the life of Christ and Mary.

The feasts of St. Eusebius of Vercelli and St. Peter Julian Eymard (August 2), St. Teresa Benedicta (August 9), St. Stephen of Hungary (August 16), and St. Rose of Lima (August 23) fall on a Sunday will be superseded by the Sunday Liturgy.

𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆𝐍𝐀𝐍: Bilang bahagi ng pagdiriwang ng Grandparents' Day, espesyal na ipinagdasal at binigyang-basbas noong nakaraang Linggo sa Banal na Misa ang ating mga lolo at lola bilang pagkilala sa kanilang walang sawang pagmamahal, karunungan, at sakripisyong iniaalay para sa kanilang pamilya. Ang pagdiriwang ay pinangunahan ni Rev. Fr. Ariel Ugoan.

Maraming salamat po sa inyong walang hanggang pagmamahal, pag-aaruga, mga aral sa buhay, at matatag na pananampalatayang ipinapasa sa bawat henerasyon. Kayo ay mga haligi ng ating tahanan at buhay na saksi ng pag-asa, pagtitiyaga, at kabutihan ng Diyos. Kaisa rin natin sa pagdiriwang na ito ang ating mga lolo at lola na pumanaw na ngunit patuloy nating inaalala nang may pagmamahal at ipinagdarasal.

Nawa'y patuloy kayong pagpalain ng Panginoon ng mabuting kalusugan, mahabang buhay, lakas, kapayapaan, at masaganang biyaya. Patuloy nawa kayong maging inspirasyon at gabay sa inyong mga anak, apo, at sa buong sambayanan.

As we celebrate Grandparents' Day, we give thanks for the precious gift of our grandparents, whose lives are living testimonies of faith, wisdom, and unconditional love.

Through their guidance, prayers, and countless sacrifices, they have nurtured generations with compassion and steadfast devotion. May the Lord continue to bless them with good health, joy, and peace, and may Saints Joachim and Anne, the grandparents of Jesus, inspire them to remain faithful witnesses of God's enduring love.

𝐏𝐫𝐚𝐲𝐞𝐫 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬

Lord Jesus,

You were born of the Virgin Mary, the daughter of Saints Joachim and Anne. Look with love on grandparents the world over.

Protect them! They are a source of enrichment for families, for the Church and for all of society. Support them! As they grow older, may they continue to be for their families strong pillars of Gospel faith and living treasuries of sound religious traditions.

Make them teachers of wisdom and courage, that they may pass on to future generations the fruits of their mature human and spiritual experience. Amen.
