PENTECOST SUNDAY MARKS THE BIRTHDAY OF THE CHURCH

Pentecost marks the birthday of the Church because it is on this day that Pentecost descended upon the Apostles, transforming them from fearful followers into bold proclaimers of the Gospel.

Before Pentecost, the disciples were hidden in fear after the crucifixion of Jesus. But when the Holy Spirit came upon them like a rushing wind and tongues of fire, everything changed. They were filled with courage, wisdom, and power to go out and preach Christ to all nations.

This moment is considered the “birth” of the Church because it was the beginning of its public mission — the moment the Gospel was no longer kept in a small room but was proclaimed to the whole world.

From that day onward, the Church became alive and active, guided not by human strength alone, but by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Pentecost reminds us that the Church is not just a human institution, but a living body continually renewed by God’s Spirit. And just as the first disciples were strengthened, we too are called to be renewed, empowered, and sent forth today.

Come, Holy Spirit—renew Your Church and renew our hearts. 🕊️

Pentecost Sunday marks the birth of the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church.

On this sacred day, the Holy Spirit descended upon the Apostles and the Blessed Virgin Mary, filling them with courage to proclaim the Gospel to all nations. What began in the Upper Room became the living Church of Christ—united in faith, sanctified by grace, universal in mission, and founded upon the Apostles.

The Church was not created by human effort, but born through the power of the Holy Spirit. As members of the One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church, we are called to continue the mission of Christ with faith, love, and boldness.

Come, Holy Spirit, renew the hearts of Your faithful and kindle in them the fire of Your love.

Gospel of the Day (John 21,15-19)

After Jesus had revealed himself to his disciples and eaten breakfast with them, he said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of John, do you love me more than these?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." He said to him, "Feed my lambs."
He then said to him a second time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" He said to him, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you." He said to him, "Tend my sheep."
He said to him the third time, "Simon, son of John, do you love me?" Peter was distressed that he had said to him a third time, "Do you love me?" and he said to him, "Lord, you know everything; you know that I love you." (Jesus) said to him, "Feed my sheep.
Amen, amen, I say to you, when you were younger, you used to dress yourself and go where you wanted; but when you grow old, you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and lead you where you do not want to go."
He said this signifying by what kind of death he would glorify God. And when he had said this, he said to him, "Follow me."

MAY MGA PAHINGA NA HINDI NAKUKUHA SA TULOG, PERO NADAADAAN SA DASAL

Hindi lahat ng pagod ay pisikal.
May mga pagod na kahit matulog ka nang maaga, kahit magpahinga ka buong araw, dala-dala mo pa rin paggising mo. Pagod sa responsibilidad, sa paulit-ulit na problema, sa overthinking, sa disappointments, at sa mga laban na tahimik mong kinakaharap araw-araw.

Minsan, ang katawan lang ang nagpapahinga sa tulog pero ang isip at puso natin nananatiling gising sa pag-aalala. Kaya kahit mahaba ang tulog, parang kulang pa rin. Parang may bigat na hindi maalis.

At dito pumapasok ang kapangyarihan ng dasal.
Kapag nananalangin tayo, hindi lang tayo nagsasalita — ipinapasa natin sa Diyos ang lahat ng mabigat nating dinadala. Unti-unting gumagaan ang pakiramdam dahil alam nating may Diyos na nakikinig, umaalalay, at hindi tayo iniiwan.

Ang dasal ay pahinga ng kaluluwa.
Ito yung sandaling hindi mo kailangang magpanggap na malakas. Hindi mo kailangang itago ang sakit, takot, o pagod mo. Sa harap ng Diyos, pwede kang mapagod, pwede kang umiyak, at pwede kang humingi ng lakas.

May mga gabing umiiyak tayo habang nagdadasal, pero pagkatapos nito may kakaibang kapayapaan tayong nararamdaman. Hindi dahil solved na agad ang problema, kundi dahil pinaaalala sa atin ng Diyos na may kasama tayo sa bawat laban.

Kaya kapag napapagod ka na sa buhay, magpahinga ka. Matulog ka. Pero huwag mong kalimutang manalangin. Dahil may mga pahingang hindi kayang ibigay ng mundo, kundi ng Diyos lamang. 🙏✨
