JOHN 15:1-9
β€œI am the true vine, and my Father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you. Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. β€œI am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples. β€œAs the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.

Jesus reminds us in this passage that our spiritual life, growth, and fruitfulness all depend on our connection with Him. Apart from Christ, we can do nothing. But when we remain in Him, we grow, bear fruit, and experience deeper intimacy with God.

Three kinds of believers mentioned in the scripture:
β€’ No Fruits- The Crowd
β€’ Bear Fruits - The Believers
β€’ Fruitful - The Friends/The Lovers

JOHN 15:2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit

JOHN 15:6 If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.

This refers to people who may be around God, yet are not truly connected to Him.

β€’ Find routine, not relationship.
β€’ Loves the power not the presence

A person can attend church, hear the Word, and still remain spiritually disconnected if there is no true surrender and relationship with Jesus.

2. π˜½π™€π˜Όπ™π™Ž 𝙁𝙍𝙐𝙄𝙏 - π˜½π™€π™‡π™„π™€π™‘π™€π™π™Ž

JOHN 15:2 … while every branch that does not bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful. 3 You are already clean because if the word I have spoken to you. 4 Remain in me, as I also remain in you

This stage represents believers who know God and experience Him, yet are still being shaped and refined by Him.

β€’ Belief without surrender is dead
β€’ Encounters God but stays there - encounters are not the DESTINATION, it’s an INVITATION.
β€’ Don’t chase emotional high, look for the holy depths.
β€’ Believers are SOMETIMES performative. You have the form but not the POWER.

God desires more than temporary encounters. He calls believers into daily surrender, transformation, and deeper communion with Him.

3. 𝙁𝙍𝙐𝙄𝙏𝙁𝙐𝙇 - 𝙏𝙃𝙀 π™‡π™Šπ™‘π™€π™π™Ž

JOHN 15:7 If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you. 8 This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.

JOHN 15:15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you π™›π™§π™žπ™šπ™£π™™π™¨, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.

This is the picture of a life fully connected to Christ β€” a life marked by intimacy, obedience, and love.

β€’ Intimacy with the Lord
β€’ Friendship, relationship and Union with God

God is not only calling us to serve Him, but also to walk closely with Him as friends who know His heart.

2. As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. NOW REMAIN IN MY LOVE. LOVE IS TIME. LOVE IS Communicationβ€” worship and prayer.

To remain in Christ means staying connected to Him daily through His Word, prayer, worship, and obedience.

God is calling us beyond being part of the crowd and even beyond simply believing. He desires for us to become fruitful followers who walk closely with Him as friends and lovers of His presence. Through His Word, prayer, worship, and surrender, we learn to abide in Him and allow Him to transform our lives continually.

Matthew 4:1-11
Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil. After fasting forty days and forty nights, he was hungry. The tempter came to him and said, β€œIf you are the Son of God, tell these stones to become bread.” Jesus answered, β€œIt is written: β€˜Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God. Then the devil took him to the holy city and had him stand on the highest point of the temple.

β€œIf you are the Son of God,” he said, β€œthrow yourself down. For it is written: 'He will command his angels concerning you, and they will lift you up in their hands, so that you will not strike your foot against a stone. Jesus answered him, β€œIt is also written: β€˜Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’”

Again, the devil took him to a very high mountain and showed him all the kingdoms of the world and their splendor. β€œAll this I will give you,” he said, β€œif you will bow down and worship me.” Jesus said to him, β€œAway from me, Satan! For it is written: β€˜Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.” Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.

Overcoming Temptation means you β€œpass the test”. God is more interested in your CHARACTER than your convenience. In Matthew 4:1-11.

HOW DID JESUS PASS THE TEST?
v.1 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted by the devil.
The Greek word for tempted is Tested. In your weakest point the tempter– the devil will come, he will tempt us. The goal of the devil is to disqualify us to steal our destiny and thwart God’s plan.

Jesus' temptation focuses on the three aspects of life which are common to all of us.

1. LUST OF THE FLESH (Matthew 4:3-4)
Jesus is hungry, the devil tempts him to turn the stones into bread.

2. THE PRIDE OF LIFE (Matthew 4:5-7)
The devil uses a verse in the bible from Psalm 91:11-12. He replied that you do not abuse your power. He knows the limitation (Deuteronomy 6:16)

3. LUST OF THE EYES

HOW DID JESUS OVERCOME THE TEMPTATION AND PASSED THE TEST?

1. JESUS WAS LED BY THE SPIRIT
v.1 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit in the wilderness…
Luke 4:1 (NIV) Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness. Jesus β€œfull of the Holy Spirit” before and during this leading. (Luke 4:14 Jesus returned to Galilee in the power of the Spirit)

Galatians 5:16-17 (NIV)
16 So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17 For the flesh desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are in conflict with each other, so that you are not to do whatever you want.

Romans 8:14 (ESV)
For all who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God.

Ephesians 4:30 (ESV)
And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

2. JESUS AFFIRM THE WORD OF GOD TO OVERCOME TEMPTATION.

v.4 β€œIt is written: β€˜Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.
Three times– the phrase β€œFOR IT IS WRITTEN” is mentioned. In this account the devil cannot counter the TRUTH. Jesus replied to the temptation by DECLARING GOD’S WORD from the book of Deuteronomy 8:1-5.

John 6:63 (NIV) The Spirit gives life; the flesh counts for nothing. The words I have spoken to youβ€”they are full of the Spirit and life. His words is not merely a word, but powerful and life (ZOE). Jesus KNOWS his bible (Old Testament) by heart.

CONCLUSION:
In these last days, the devil, our adversary, will do everything to distract us, deceive us, and confuse us. We NEED to make the word of God as our FOOD. The enemy wants to disqualify us, he wants us to quit and follow the lifestyle of the world, he wants to be used to happiness, comfort and pleasure. God is more concerned with your character than your comfort. Be an overcomer, be filled with the Spirit and deeply grounded in the Truth. (1Peter 2:9)

Psalm 147:1-3
Praise the LORD. How good it is to sing praises to our God, how pleasant and fitting to praise Him! The LORD builds up Jerusalem; he gathers the exile of Israel. He HEALS the BROKENHEARTED and binds up their wounds.

In this troubled and fallen world that we are living in, the enemy wants us to be overwhelmed with disappointment, sadness and grief that will cause us to be brokenhearted and weaken our faith.

The Psalmist is saying that it is good to sing praises to God and it is just proper to praise him in the midst of pain and sorrow. Is that a realistic approach in life?

In this life you will always be disappointed, you will always be offended in this fallen world, because the adversary the demonic forces are at work.
The Psalmist highlights emotional healing. Because he is a compassionate God he will mend the emotional and spiritual wounds that we experience.

Psalm 34:18 - The LORD is close to the broken hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

HOW DOES GOD HEAL THE BROKENHEARTED?

1. HUMBLE OURSELVES BEFORE GOD

[v.6 The LORD sustains the humble but casts the wicked to the ground.]

If God knows the places of the stars in the universe, if he knows all of their names, can He not know your situation? If God has infinite understanding of EVERYTHING can He not understand you? Can He not heal you?

WE SHOULD BE HUMBLE ENOUGH to accept in our hearts (spirit) that the LORD is great and mighty in power and that He can restore us. That those who hope in His UNFAILING LOVE will not be disappointed. [v.11 ..the LORD delights in those who fear Him, who put their HOPE in His UNFAILING LOVE.]

2. FIND STRENGTH IN GOD

1Samuel 30:1-6 (NLT) v.1 Three days later, when David and his men arrived home at their town of Ziklag, they found that the Amalekites had made a raid into the Negev and Ziklag; they had crushed Ziklag and burned it to the ground. v.2 They had carried off the women and children and everyone else but without killing anyone. v.3 When David and his men saw the ruins and realized what had happened to their families, v.4 they wept until they could weep no more. v.5 David’s two wives, Ahinoam from Jezreel and Abigail, the widow of Nabal from Carmel, were among those captured. v.6 David was now in great danger because all his men were very bitter about losing their sons and daughters, and they began to talk of stoning him. But David FOUND STRENGTH IN THE LORD HIS GOD.

3. INQUIRE OF THE LORD

v.8 David inquired to the LORD, saying, β€œShall I pursue this raiding party? Will I overtake them?” β€œPursue them,” he answered. β€œYou will certainly overtake them and succeed in the rescue.”

v.18 David recovered everything the Amalekites had taken, including his two wives. v.19 Nothing was missing: young or old, boy or girl, plunder or anything else they had taken. David brought everything back. v.20 He took all the flocks and herds…

David was crushed in spirit, he wept until he could not weep no more, all his men were very bitter and started to develop hatred for David, they began to talk of stoning him. But David instead of hitting back and being bitter and depending on himself. He forgives and STRENGTHENED HIMSELF IN THE LORD HIS GOD. This was because his personal intimacy with God was deep.

STRONG CONFIDENCE IN GOD

‭‭Psalms‬ ‭27‬:‭1‬-‭6‬, ‭13‬-‭14‬ ‭NIV‬‬
β€œThe Lord is my light and my salvationβ€” whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my lifeβ€” of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked advance against me to devour me, it is my enemies and my foes who will stumble and fall. Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then I will be confident. One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple. For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his sacred tent and set me high upon a rock. Then my head will be exalted above the enemies who surround me; at his sacred tent I will sacrifice with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the Lord. I remain confident of this: I will see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living. Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.”

David expressed the source of his confidence in the midst of deep trouble (King Saul is in hot pursuit for him, David was chosen and anointed by God to be the next king).
Saul realized that he has been rejected by God because of his disobedience. He cannot accept it and he pursued David like wild animals, David has to hide in desert and caves and move from place to place.

David express his strong confidence in God
vs. 1 β€œwhy should I be afraid, why should I tremble the LORD is Light and my salvation.”

How did he develop such confidence In God?

Fearless faith in the midst of grave threat in his life as he received a death sentence.
We will be facing a lot of difficulties in the years to come this the time to develop and nurture full confidence and trust in God. In the last days many will fall away from the faith.

In his life journey what did David trying to teach us?
In verse 4-5 God confidence is develop when he look to God first and not on our selves and our situation.

WE SHOULD LEARN TO DESIRE AND DELIGHT IN THE LORD.

David knew his priority.
v.4 (NKJV) β€œOne thing I have desired of the LORD, That I may dwell in the house of the LORD All the Days of my Life. Why? To behold the beauty of the LORD, and to In inquire In his temple.”
(TPT) Here’s the one thing I crave from Yahweh, the one thing I seek above all else; I want to live with him every moment in his house, beholding the marvelous beauty of YAHWEH (Heb. LORD) filled with awe, delighting in his glory and glory. I want to contemplate in his temple.

WE SHOULD LEARN TO BE INTENTIONAL.
Ask the Holy Spirit to keep your focus on God (one thing I seek above all else, it’s should be top priority).

Conclusion of David’s life journey:
v.13-14 β€œI would have lost heart unless I had believed That I would see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait on the LORD (spend time with Him), Be of good courage and he shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say on the LORD.”

IS THERE ENOUGH SALT FOR OUR CITY?

Matthew 5:13
β€œYou are the salt of the earth, But if the salt loses its saltiness, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot."

In human history salt is one of the most important commodities. When Jesus walk here on earth salt was so valuable back then as compare to our present day.
Before electricity and refrigerators were discovered salt is the main ways to preserve food.
Salt was so valuable in Jesus’s time that Roman soldiers were sometimes paid with special ration of salt. It is there where word β€œsalary” comes from.

So to be told that we are the salt of earth it speaks how valuable and important we are. Salt had two purposes in the days of Jesus FLAVOR and PRESERVATIVE.
Without Christian who are salt in the earth, there is nothing that makes the earth acceptable to God - their presence commends the earth to God’s grace and mercy.

INTERCESSORS ARE THE SALT, THEY MAKE THE DIFFERENCE.
It just requires a few intercessors who are salt to make the difference in any one given situation, and God sees there is salt.

Abraham’s Intercession
Genesis 18:20-24 " Then the Lord said, β€œThe outcry against S***m and Gomorrah is so great and their sin so grievous that I will go down and see if what they have done is as bad as the outcry that has reached me. If not, I will know.” The men turned away and went toward S***m, but Abraham remained standing before the Lord. Then Abraham approached him and said: β€œWill you sweep away the righteous with the wicked? What if there are fifty righteous people in the city? Will you really sweep it away and not spare the place for the sake of the fifty righteous people in it?"

And we know the story, he comes all the way down from 50, to twenty and end up in ten. But there wasn’t salt in the city.

GOD WORKS ACCORDING TO DIVINE PRINCIPLES. (according to N. Johnson) in verse 20, "I will go down now and see whether they have done altogether according to the CRY OF IT, which come to me."
There was a cry that had come out of S***m and Gomorrah and ascended unto God. And that cry is evil. (cry of injustice, serious moral failing, extreme moral depravity that warrant divine judgment)
v.20-21 NASB - "The LORD said, The outcry of S***m and Gomorrah is indeed great, and their sin is exceedingly grave. β€œI will go down now, and see if they have done entirely according to its outcry, which has done to Me; and if not, I will know.”
(God is aware of human actions and injustice, He will address it in His TIMING)

The Principle: WHEN THE CRY OF THE INTERCESSORS EXCEEDS THAT OF THE CRY OF THE WICKED COMING UP BEFORE GOD, CHANGE OCCURS.
The two cries are reaching up before God, one can bring judgment. (that’s why he said The cries came up from S***m and Gomorrah. I’m going to judge this place.)
Abraham intercede, Oh LORD wait, hold your judgement, Abraham was standing in between, but there was not enough salt to save S***m and Gomorrah, there was not enough.

Genesis 19:26 "But his wife looked back from behind and she became a PILLAR OF SALT."
When judgment came, Lot’s wife was turned into a pillar of salt a mute testimony to the fact that there was not enough Salt in the City.

Is there enough salt (Intercession) in your family to save it? Is there enough salt in this city to save it? Is there enough salt in the nation to save it?

THE INTERCESSORS MAKE THE DIFFERENCE IN THE LIFE OF A PERSON, FAMILY, A CHURCH, A NATION.

PROTECTION IS NOT AUTOMATIC. The nature of the enemy’s attack is so great, WE NEED ENOUGH COVERING.

Conclusion:
The PRIME MINISTRY of the Church must be PRAYER.

The prime function, the primary ministry of any church should be that of prayer. It will make a difference, according to the prayer LIFE OF THE CHURCH. Jesus said β€œMy house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations”.

Because it is the CHURCH, as a HOUSE OF PRAYER, that will SAVE THE NATIONS.
