What Is Christian Leadership?

“Leadership is the act of influencing/serving others out of Christ’s interests in their lives so they accomplish God’s purposes for and through them,” according to Bill Lawrence, president of Leader Formation International, at Bible.org.

Christian leadership is not rooted in worldly notions of success, such as the love of money or power. Jesus Himself spoke against this when expressing the importance of serving others.

But Jesus called them to Himself and said, “You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those who are great exercise authority over them. Yet it shall not be so among you; but whoever desires to become great among you, let him be your servant. And whoever desires to be first among you, let him be your slave — just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”

– Matthew 20:25-28, NKJV

This really should be the essence of our prayer. Prayer isn't just about for things and waiting for them to happen. Prayer is also about giving God the glory He deserves. It is through prayer we can worship God and give him the glory. In times of prayer, we can meditate on God and His goodness and this will inspire us to praise Him, sing hymns and express the gratitude we have for him and His love.

Mark 1:35 (NLT)
"Before daybreak the next morning, Jesus got up and went out to an isolated place to pray."

Are you feeling disconnected from God? Do you feel a void in your life? Maybe it's time you take some time out intentionally to spend time with God. Eliminate yourself from any interruptions and seek God in prayer. We should have private time with God even if we aren't feeling separated from Him in order to focus on God. 👆
