AUGUST 23 | 21st. Sunday in Ordinary Time

Jesus asks His disciples a deeply personal question: “Who do you say that I am?” Peter answers with faith: “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”

Jesus reminds us that faith is not simply knowing about Him it is recognizing Him, trusting Him, and allowing Him to guide our lives. Like Peter, we are also called to become a strong foundation for others through our faith, love, service, and witness.

The “keys” given to Peter remind us that God entrusts His people with a mission. Each of us has a role in building Christ’s Church not only inside the church, but also in our homes, workplaces, schools, and communities.

Today, let us ask ourselves: Who is Jesus in my life? And how am I helping others discover His love?

Lord Jesus,
You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.
Strengthen our faith when we are weak
and guide us when we are uncertain.
Help us to know You more deeply,
to trust You completely,
and to follow You faithfully.

Give us the courage to be like Peter
strong in faith, humble in service,
and willing to build Your Church through our lives.
May our words, actions, and choices
lead others closer to You.

Lord, strengthen our faith
and make us builders of Your Kingdom.
Amen. 🙏

AUGUST 9 | 19th Sunday in Ordinary Time

Life can sometimes feel like a stormy sea full of fear, uncertainty, and challenges. Like Peter, we may begin with courage but lose faith when we focus on the waves around us.

Jesus reminds us: “Take courage, it is Jesus; do not be afraid.” When we keep our eyes on Him, we discover that we are never alone. Jesus does not promise that there will be no storms, but He promises to be with us through every storm.

Let us trust Him even when we cannot see the way forward. Faith means keeping our eyes on Jesus, especially when the waves are high.

Lord Jesus,
when the storms of life frighten me,
help me to keep my eyes on You.
Give me the courage to trust You
when I feel weak, afraid, or uncertain.
Strengthen my faith when I begin to doubt,
and remind me that You are always near.
Take my fears and worries into Your hands.
Teach me to walk with confidence,
knowing that You will never abandon me.
Jesus, I trust in You.

Guide me through every storm
and lead me safely toward Your peace.

Amen.🙏

AUGUST 2 | St. Maria Vianney Sunday

St. Maria Vianney (1786–1859), also known as the Curé of Ars, was a humble parish priest in Ars, France. Despite struggling in his studies, he trusted completely in God's grace and became one of the holiest priests in Church history. He spent countless hours hearing confessions, celebrating the Holy Mass with deep devotion, and leading people back to Christ through his compassion, simplicity, and prayer. He is the Patron Saint of Parish Priests, reminding us that a faithful priest reflects the loving Heart of Jesus.

St. Maria Vianney teaches us that true greatness is found in holiness, humility, and faithful service. He did not seek fame or recognition; instead, he gave his life entirely to God and to the people entrusted to his care. His example reminds us to value the gift of the priesthood, to pray for our priests, and to support them as they continue Christ's mission in the world.

Like St. Maria Vianney, may we seek a deeper relationship with Jesus through prayer, the sacraments, and acts of love. Let us become instruments of God's mercy wherever we are, bringing hope and compassion to those in need.

Heavenly Father,
We thank You for the gift of St. Maria Vianney, whose holy life reflected the Heart of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Through his example, teach us to love You with sincere hearts and to serve others with humility and compassion.

Bless all our priests with wisdom, strength, and holiness. Renew their hearts with Your grace, protect them in times of trial, and fill them with the joy of faithfully serving Your people.

Through the intercession of St. Maria Vianney, inspire many young men to answer Your call to the priesthood. May we always pray for, encourage, and support our priests as they lead us closer to You.

We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen. 🙏

AUGUST 2 | 18th SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

The Gospel reminds us that Jesus never ignores our needs. When He saw the hungry crowd, His heart was filled with compassion. Instead of sending them away, He took the five loaves and two fish, blessed them, broke them, and fed everyone until they were satisfied.

This miracle teaches us that God can do extraordinary things with the little we offer Him. Our time, talents, kindness, and faith may seem small, but when placed in Jesus' hands, they become a blessing to many. Jesus continues to nourish us today not only with daily bread, but also with His love, mercy, and the Holy Eucharist. Let us trust Him completely, knowing that He will always provide what we truly need.

Lord Jesus,
Thank You for Your loving compassion and generous heart. You know our needs even before we ask. Help us to trust in Your providence and to share the blessings You have given us with others. May we never doubt Your care, especially in times of difficulty. Nourish us with Your Word and the Holy Eucharist, and make us instruments of Your love and generosity. May our lives always reflect Your goodness and bring hope to those around us.

Amen.🙏

17th Sunday in Ordinary Time
World Day of Grandparents and the Elderly/ Fil-Mission Sunday

In today’s Gospel, Jesus speaks of the Kingdom of Heaven as a treasure hidden in a field and as a pearl of great price. When we discover something truly valuable, we are willing to give up everything to possess it. Jesus reminds us that God’s Kingdom is the greatest treasure we can ever receive.

As we celebrate the 17th Sunday in Ordinary Time, the World Day for Grandparents and the Elderly, and Fil-Mission Sunday, we are invited to recognize the treasures God has placed in our lives. Our grandparents and elderly are treasures of wisdom, faith, love, and experience. They have much to teach us through their stories, sacrifices, and lifelong witnesses.

Fil-Mission Sunday also reminds us that the gift of faith is not meant to be kept only for ourselves. Like a precious treasure, we are called to share the Gospel with others and to support the mission of the Church. Our time, talents, prayers, and generosity can help bring God's love to those who need it.

May we always choose what truly matters: to treasure God's Kingdom, honor our elders, cherish our families, and share our faith with others. May our lives become a reflection of the love and goodness of God.

Prayer

Lord Jesus,
You are the greatest treasure of our lives. Help us to seek Your Kingdom above all things and to live each day with faith, love, and generosity.

Bless our grandparents and all the elderly. Thank You for their wisdom, sacrifices, stories, and love. Give them strength, joy, peace, and the assurance that they are deeply loved and valued.

Teach us to honor and care for them, and help us to learn from their faith and experiences.

Bless the mission of Your Church and inspire us to become faithful messengers of Your Gospel. Give us generous hearts, willing hands, and courageous spirits to share Your love with others.

May we treasure what is eternal, serve those around us, and always choose the path that leads us closer to You.
Amen.🙏
