The Diocese of Calbayog, in partnership with the Commission on Vocations and Seminarians and the Association of Religious in Calbayog, joyfully invites everyone to take part in the official opening of Vocation Month 2025. This significant and faith-filled celebration will be held on February 7, 2026, at La Milagrosa Academy, marking the beginning of a shared journey of discernment of God’s call in our lives.

Centered on the theme, “Bokasyon: Bukas sa Misyon", the event encourages all—most especially the youth—to recognize and embrace the joy of serving Christ through the priesthood, religious life, and other forms of vocation within the Church. The day will feature inspiring talks and moments of communal prayer designed to deepen faith and foster a clearer understanding of God’s plan for us.

Be with us in this meaningful celebration. Let us unite in faith, renew our dedication to God, and wholeheartedly answer His call. We look forward to seeing you!

Vocation Month starts today in the Diocese of Calbayog — pray, invite, and encourage those discerning God’s call. A single ‘yes’ can change a life.

May seeds of vocation take root, hearts grow brave, and ears be opened to God’s voice.

PRAYER FOR VOCATIONS

Lord Jesus Christ, eternal priest, You chose your apostles and you sent them to preach the Good News of Salvation. Give to your church in Samar and Leyte more apostles who will serve as priests, brothers, and sisters. Make the seed of vocation to grow to its fullness in the heart of every young men and women. Give them the grace of dedication and perseverance in spite of hardships and sacrifices. Reveal to their parents the beauty of their sons and daughters. Grant them the grace to overcome opposing interests and affections. Bestow on all Christians of Samar and Leyte a deep love for your priesthood and religious life. May your kingdom come. AMEN.

As we gather for the upcoming 2nd Diocesan Youth Congress, we are called not just to fellowship, but to stewardship. We are thrilled to invite every young person and faithful member of the Diocese of Calbayog to join us for the 𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥 𝐖𝐚𝐥𝐤, one of the key highlights of our gathering and our united campaign towards the protection of our Mother Earth.

Let us take our advocacy to the streets! This meaningful event is happening on 𝐍𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 22, 2025, 𝐚𝐭 4:45 𝐏𝐌, where we will walk together around Calbayog City Proper. We encourage all participants to unleash their creativity and passion by bringing placards with powerful slogans advocating for the environment. Let your signs speak loud and clear as we march for the preservation of God’s creation.

This is more than just a walk. It is a step towards the renewal of our humanity and our planet. Let us show the world that the youth are ready to lead the way in caring for our common home. Wear your comfortable walking shoes, bring your friends, and let’s fill the city with our hope and commitment to a greener future. See you there! 🌍🌿

DO NOT BREAK THE ROSARY HELD BY A DECEASED LOVED ONE

Let us not cut the rosary held by the deceased. We saw when our Pope Francis was laid to rest that he was holding a rosary—yet it was noticeable that it was not broken or cut, unlike the common practice and superstition of many Filipinos during funerals. Cutting or breaking the rosary is a serious mistake during wakes and burials in the Philippines. The rosary of the departed should not be cut because it symbolizes our faith and love for Jesus and the Virgin Mary. The mysteries of the Holy Rosary are events in the life of Jesus that we should preserve, practice, and honor. The rosary should not be divided or cut due to fear or superstitious beliefs. Let us allow the deceased to carry their rosary intact as a sign of respect for their faith and as a symbol of their devotion and prayer as Catholics.

With deep sadness, we announce the untimely death of Rev. Fr. Carlito de Guia Verzosa, Jr. He returned to the Creator this afternoon, 22 October 2025, the memorial of St. John Paul II.

Just as he offered himself to the service of God's people, we enjoin the faithful to pray for his eternal rest 🙏✨
