Open Letter to Everyone.
I have been serving as a deacon since 2023. I simply want to share that being an office bearer is not an easy responsibility. Yet, by God's grace, mercy, and sustaining power, we are able to endure every challenge.
Since Calauan Church has been without a pastor, our responsibilities have become even more demanding. To be honest, we had become too dependent on the pastor when it came to ministry. However, I came to realise that it should not be that way. It is important for us to understand the roles of elders and deacons and to appreciate God's calling for us to serve His church faithfully. That is why seminars, and training opportunities are such great blessings! We should make the most of them and never take them for granted, because the Lord uses these to help us grow in knowledge, faith, and service. There were also many things I did not understand before, especially when relationships between brothers and sisters in the same church were damaged. The truth is that we all have different perspectives, personalities, experiences, and ways of thinking. We all make mistakes, and none of us is perfect. As Scripture says: "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." โ Romans 3:23
Because of this, misunderstandings and even divisions sometimes arise. We should never ignore these issues, but we should also recognise that God can use such trials to humble us, lead us to repentance when necessary, strengthen our faith, and teach us to love and forgive one another. I have also learned that serving God is not about position, recognition, titles, intelligence, popularity, or personal preferences. It is about being faithful to God's calling, even when it is difficult, even when we are misunderstood, and even when we face trials. Our standard is not the praise of people but our faithfulness to the Lord. Let us continue to pray for our church, for our elders and deacons, and for every member. Let us not allow anger, gossip, or division to prevail among us. Instead, let us seek God's will together, uphold love, truth, and peace, remain humble, and always be willing to receive correction through God's Word. The Bible reminds us "Be completely humble and gentle; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace." โ Ephesians 4:2โ3. I believe these are the keys to the growth of our church and to bringing glory to our Lord Jesus Christ. We can honour and serve the Lord with excellence, according to His will and with joyful and humble hearts. Therefore, let nothing move you, Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor in the Lord is not in vain (1 Corinthians 15:58). In His perfect time, He will reward those who remain faithful.
