Proper dress in the Church can help us in several ways:

✨ It reminds us of God’s presence.
Dressing with care prepares our minds and hearts to enter a place where Christ is truly present—Body, Blood, Soul, and Divinity.

🙏 It expresses humility before God.
Like the centurion who said, “Lord, I am not worthy,” modest dress reflects our awareness that we stand before Infinite Holiness.

🕊️ It helps us focus on prayer.
When our appearance reflects reverence, distractions fade, making it easier to listen, adore, and unite ourselves to Christ’s sacrifice at the altar.

At the same time, proper attire does not mean wearing extravagant or expensive clothing. Simple, clean, and respectful clothing is enough.

Most importantly, we should always remember that the disposition of the heart matters even more than the clothing we wear. A person may dress well outwardly, but true worship comes from a humble heart turned toward God. Our attire should simply reflect that interior reverence and love for the Lord.

The Church welcomes everyone as they are. Yet when circumstances allow, dressing properly for Mass can be a small but meaningful act of love—an outward sign of the reverence we hold for God.

Sometimes the way we dress becomes a silent prayer:
“Lord, I know Who You are, and I come before You with reverence.”

The Chaste Heart of St. Joseph

St. Joseph is known as “the just man” and, as such, was a man of singular virtue. This strength of character, this reign of virtue, extended to all aspects of his life and his person—including his heart. His whole being was oriented to his God. His love was properly ordered, his affections purified. Unlike St. Joseph, we tend to struggle, and oftentimes fail, with matters of the heart. Our culture certainly does not hold the virtue of chastity in high esteem. Therefore, it can seem incredible to us that a man like Joseph was able to rise to the lofty challenge presented to him: to be the “chaste guardian of the Virgin” (and of all virgins) and the foster-father of the Son of God. Such a task requires both remarkable human virtue and unexcelled amounts of God’s grace. St. Joseph had both.

The tradition with regard to the age of St. Joseph varies (the Eastern Church holds that he was an old man, while the West concedes that he may have been much younger), but at the heart of the issue is the fact that it was Joseph’s virtue—not merely old age, lack or virility, or lethargic passions—that safeguarded the perpetual virginity of the Mother of God, and allowed him to guide and protect Mary and Jesus with such strength of pure love.

The heart of St. Joseph should give us great hope that purity of heart lies within our reach, thanks to the grace of God and the intercession of Joseph-most-chaste!

DAY 09

St. Joseph, Protector of the Holy Church

Just as he protected Jesus on earth, St. Joseph continues to watch over the Church today. In uncertain times, we can rest in his fatherly care. A protector. A guide. A steady presence.

St. Joseph, Protector of the Holy Church, pray for us.

FATHER'S HANDS

I am personally fascinated by hands. Hands can tell stories, show how hard-working a person is, and hands can save. We use our hands to tap someone when they did something good, to fight, to embrace people, to wipe precious tears, to hold those dear to us, and our intentions when they are folded in prayer.

Saint Joseph's hands tell stories. His hands held the love, promises, respect, and faithfulness to Blessed Virgin Mary. His hands were the first to hold Jesus when he was born. His hands guided and supported the Holy Family. A hard-working hand of a husband, father, and worker.

May our hands always be guided by Saint Joseph.

Saint Joseph, spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the foster father of Jesus, pray for us.

“Broken but Not Cancelled”: Sin, Shame, and the Mercy of God"
An Online Recollection

Many young people today are familiar with "cancel culture" where a person can quickly be judged, rejected, or defined by a single mistake, weakness, or failure. This can often lead to harsh judgment, heavy shame, overwhelming fear, and deep pain, along with a sense of inadequacy that prevents them from fully connecting with others or accepting love.

This one-hour online recollection offers a prayerful space to reflect on these realities in the light of faith. It seeks to proclaim that although sin and brokenness are real, no one is ever beyond the reach of God's mercy. Thus, this recollection hopes to lead participants towards repentance, healing, restoration, and courage to begin anew.

You are warmly invited...

𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐑𝐂𝐀𝐋𝐃 | RAISING OUR SHEPHERD TO THE ALTAR OF SAINTS
"Stir into Flame the Gift of God"
(2 Timothy 1:6)

My dear people of God in the Archdiocese of Lingayen Dagupan: The Holy See through the Dicastery for the Causes of Saints in its letter dated January 26, 2026 Prot. No. 3824-1/25 graciously and kindly granted the favor to the undersigned to open the inquiry into the life and virtues, as well as the fame of holiness and signs for the Beatification and Canonization of the Servant of God Cesar Maria Guerrero y Dominguez, First Bishop of Lingayen.

In order to fittingly celebrate this historical milestone in our life as a Church, the Opening of the Cause of the Servant of God Cesar Maria Guerrero will be held on March 27, 2026, Friday, the sixty-fifth death anniversary of the Servant of God, at the Cathedral of Saint John the Evangelist. The ceremonies will begin at 3:30 pm and will conclude with a Mass immediately after.

I am inviting all the priests, religious men and women, lay leaders and youth leaders to join this unprecedented historic event in Pangasinan.

The fame of sanctity of our first Bishop continues to this day. In his lifetime, at his death and even up to our times, the Catholic faithful piously remember him as "sabio y santo" which means wise and saintly.

Pray to God that our first Bishop now Servant of God Cesar Maria Guerrero may be raised to the altar of Holy Mother Church as one of our saints. Here is the official prayer for his canonization:

Prayer for the Canonization of the Servant of God Cesar Maria Guerrero

Lord, have mercy.
Christ, have mercy.
Lord, have mercy.

God the Father, almighty and merciful, who raise up holy servants to manifest your glory, Hear our prayer.

Through the Servant of God, Cesar Maria Guerrero, fervent devotee of Virgin Mary, Help of Christians, Hear our prayer.

Through the Servant of God, Cesar Maria Guerrero, devout son of Our Lady of Remedies, who healed social unrest through her intercession, Hear our prayer.

Through the Servant of God, Cesar Maria Guerrero, founder of two seminaries, Hear our prayer.

Through the Servant of God, Cesar Maria Guerrero, tireless promoter of priestly holiness, Hear our prayer.

Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world, Spare us, O Lord.

Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world, Graciously hear us, O Lord.

Lamb of God, who takes away the sins of the world, Hasten the canonization of your Servant Cesar Maria Guerrero.

Let us pray

O God, who in your providence call forth exemplary servants like Cesar Maria Guerrero to renew your Church through devotion to Mary, priestly formation, and zeal for reform, graciously grant that, by his intercession, we may advance in holiness and that your Church may soon venerate him among the blessed. Through Christ our Lord. Amen.

Let us pray together and walk together on the path of holiness with the Servant of God as our inspiration.
