The 31st National Family Week Celebration at Calasiao Stake of Zion: A Memorable Gathering of Filipino Families

On September 30th, 2023, at 1:00 pm, the Calasiao Stake of Zion of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints transformed into a vibrant hub of joy, laughter, and celebration. Families gathered to mark the 31st National Family Week with the resonating theme: "Filipino Families: Responding to Changing Perspectives and Times."

The air was palpably electrifying as the church grounds became a colorful canvas painted with smiling faces and shimmering outfits. Each family, with immense pride and enthusiasm, showcased a dance presentation. The rhythm of Filipino beats echoed, and the atmosphere became more alive with each passing moment. Every twirl, every step, every hand gesture radiated the essence of unity, love, and the changing perspectives of Filipino families in the contemporary era. The happiness was evident; it was reflected in the joyful eyes of parents, in the giggles of children, and in the energetic moves of the youth.

Friends, both old and new, were reunited, sharing hugs, stories and creating memories. The infectious enthusiasm drew even the most reserved into the circle of dance and laughter. It wasn't just a day for families but also for bonding with the extended church community.

Adding to the charm of the event was the presence of social media content creators, their cameras capturing every precious moment, ensuring that this celebration wouldn't just remain in the hearts of those present but would be shared and relived by many more across the digital world.

The event reached its crescendo with the august presence of our distinguished guest of honors. Honorable Kevin Roy Q. Macanlalay, the mayor of Calasiao, Pangasinan, graced the gathering with his warm spirit. Beside him was Madam Jessica Gueco, who represented Pangasinan 3rd District Congresswoman Madam Rachel "Baby" J. Arenas. Their participation underlined the significance of families in the fabric of the Filipino community.

As the sun began its descent, the heartwarming celebration concluded, leaving everyone with brimming hearts and treasured memories. The 31st National Family Week Celebration at the Calasiao Stake of Zion wasn't just an event; it was a testament to Filipino families' undying spirit, adaptability, and unity. In changing perspectives and times, these families stood firm, rooted in love and faith, always ready to dance through the challenges with smiles on their faces.

Leadership Meeting (3:00-5:00pm): All Stake and Ward leaders
Adult Evening Session (6:00-8:00pm): All 18 years old and above

SUNDAY SESSION - October 23, 2022
Youth & YSA Devotional (8:00-9:30am): All Youth and YSA
General Session (10:00am-12:00pm): All members and visitors

All sessions will be held face-to-face at Calasiao Stake Center. We are blessed to have Elder Yoon Hwan Choi of the Philippine Area Presidency to preside at this conference. May we prepare ourselves spiritually and receive personal revelations and answers to our questions.

Calasiao Stake Celebrates National Family Week in One Accord

"A Filipino family is a symbol of strength and support.", said a Congresswoman of the Third District of Pangasinan, Ma. Rachel J. Arenas as she extended her warm message for the celebration of the National Family Week 2022 last October 1, 2022, with the theme: Urbanisasyon at Magkaagapay sa Pagpapatibay Pamilyang Pilipino at Pagpapaunlad ng Bansa .

Calasiao Stake consists of five units, and the celebration expanded into two areas, in the Municipality of Calasiao where Calasiao 1st, Calasiao 2nd, and Sta. Barbara wards gathered, and in the Municipality of Malasiqui, the Malasiqui 1st and Malasiqui 2nd were there, with the participation of Malimpuec Ward of Bayambang Stake. We were delighted to hear speakers from each local opinion leader.

The celebration began at 1:00 pm in both areas with their respective guests of honor and speakers. Calasiao Municipal Vice Mayor Kevin Roy Macanlalay spoke about the importance of families, as a small unit of society but the strongest allied at home. He was very pleased as he witnessed how the Latter-day Saints prioritizes the family, and he learned about family history, he was surprised when learned about his ancestors through FamilySearch. Madam Melvie B Agustin the Executive secretary of the Mayor was also present and delivered her message with gladness in her heart, she was thankful that she witnessed the family week celebration and extended the greetings from our Mayor.

In the Municipality of Malasiqui, we had Madam Jessica Guico (representing Madam Congresswoman Rachel "Baby" Arenas), Malasiqui Councilor Rodito Austria, Hon. Malasiqui Mayor Noel Geslani, Hon. Malasiqui Vice Mayor Alfe Soriano, Malasiqui Councilor Rodito Austria, and Dang Mamaril and Malempec Barangay Captain Mario De Vera. Each of them expresses the importance of family in our lives and in our community. Malasiqui wards also showcased the preparation of the 72-hour kits and the Family History exhibit.

The guests were given a certificate of appreciation and each was given a copy of The Family: A Proclamation to the World.

The second part of the program is where all the fun starts! Every family who is present in the program enjoyed the games, the food, fellowshipping, and socializing. The program ended with a movie that adults and children would enjoy while crunching their popcorn too!
