Knights of Columbus Mobilize for St. Bernadette Church Construction in Calanasan
TANGLAGAN, CALANASAN, APAYAO — Members of the Knights of Columbus answered a call of duty this weekend, April 24-25, 2026, as they gathered to help accelerate the construction of St. Bernadette Church in Barangay Tanglagan.
The two-day bayanihan effort brought together Knights from local councils who volunteered their time, skills, and resources to support the ongoing church project. The initiative underscores the organization’s core principle of charity and its commitment to serving Catholic communities, especially in remote areas like Calanasan.
“Helping build St. Bernadette Church is more than just construction work — it is our obligation as Knights and as Catholics,” said one of the participating members. “This is what being a Knight of Columbus means: faith in action.”
Organizers emphasized that every contribution matters, regardless of size. “Even a single day of volunteer work or a modest donation can make a significant impact,” a council officer noted. “The church will serve generations of parishioners here in Tanglagan, and we want to do our part to see it completed.”
The St. Bernadette Church project aims to provide a permanent place of worship for the growing Catholic community in the area. Tanglagan, one of the barangays in the municipality of Calanasan, has long relied on makeshift chapels for Mass and sacraments.
The Knights of Columbus are encouraging more members and the faithful to support the cause through volunteer labor, construction materials, or financial donations. Interested parties may coordinate with their local K of C council or the parish office.
For the Knights, the weekend build was a living testament to their motto: _In Service to One, In Service to All.
