“Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your faithful
and kindle in them the fire of Your love.”
Today, as Fr. Manny invites us to invoke the Holy Spirit, we are reminded of these reflections:
1. The Holy Spirit renews and recreates us.
God transforms our evil desires into goodness, straightens our crooked ways, and renews our hearts. May the Holy Spirit touch not only our lives but also the hearts of our leaders and all people, that together we may help renew the face of the earth.
2. Through the Holy Spirit, we are able to call on Jesus and profess our faith. The Holy Spirit gives us courage to proclaim that Jesus is Lord and inspires us to share our gifts for the building up of the Body of Christ, the Church.
3. We invoke the Holy Spirit to fill our lives with faith, hope, and charity. In a world marked by despair, doubt, and disbelief, may the Holy Spirit strengthen our faith, deepen our love, and renew our hope in God. May we continue to trust in His care and mercy.
Prayer of St. Augustine to the Holy Spirit
Breathe in me, O Holy Spirit,
that my thoughts may be holy.
Act in me, O Holy Spirit,
that my work, too, may be holy.
Draw my heart, O Holy Spirit,
that I love what is holy.
Strengthen me, O Holy Spirit,
to defend what is holy.
Guard me, then, O Holy Spirit,
that I may always be holy. Amen.
May the Holy Spirit renew our faith, strengthen our hope, and lead us to be true witnesses of Christ.
Blessed Pentecost Sunday to all!
