Mary Domenica Mazzarello and the place where the Institute of the Daughters of Mary Help of Christians, founded in 1872 by St. Mary Domenica herself, had its origin. Mary Domenica Mazzarello, being the first Superior General of the Institute, led the community of Sisters and young people in living a life of holiness expressed in simplicity, in joy even amidst suffering and in doing ordinary things
extraordinarily well. This lifestyle evolved into a spirituality now known as the "Spirit of Mornese". Inspired by this spirit, MORNESE CENTER OF SPIRITUALITY (Retreat House and Youth Development Center) was envisioned to answer the need for spiritual renewal and formation of individuals, couples, families, small groups and organizations. The Daughters of Mary Help of Christians (also known as Salesian Sisters of Don Bosco) offer MCS to young people as a priviledged place where they spend precious moments of stop-over-with-the-Lord and share life-giving experiences through guided and preached retreat, prayer centered on the Word of God, and other faith-enriching activities. MCS is God's gift, a dream-come-true, for the FMA Philippine Province, built through the generous communion of resources of FMA communities, benefactors and friends, so that all "may have life in all its fullness" (Jn. 10:10).
