In the latest General Instruction of the Roman Missal (GIRM), guidance on distributing Communion emphasizes that the consecrated host may be received either on the tongue or in the hand, as chosen by each communicant. The priest elevates the host slightly, presenting it to each individual, saying, "Corpus Christi" (the body of Christ). The communicant responds with "Amen" and then receives the sacrament, either on the tongue or, if allowed and preferred by the communicant, in the hand (160โ161).
It is noteworthy that the directive specifies, "๐๐ก๐ ๐๐จ๐ง๐ฌ๐๐๐ซ๐๐ญ๐๐ ๐ก๐จ๐ฌ๐ญ ๐ฆ๐๐ฒ ๐๐ ๐ซ๐๐๐๐ข๐ฏ๐๐ ๐๐ข๐ญ๐ก๐๐ซ ๐จ๐ง ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐ญ๐จ๐ง๐ ๐ฎ๐ ๐จ๐ซ ๐ข๐ง ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐ก๐๐ง๐, ๐๐ญ ๐ญ๐ก๐ ๐๐ข๐ฌ๐๐ซ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง ๐จ๐ ๐๐๐๐ก ๐๐จ๐ฆ๐ฆ๐ฎ๐ง๐ข๐๐๐ง๐ญ.
