𝗙𝗘𝗔𝗦𝗧 𝗢𝗙 𝗦𝗧. 𝗣𝗘𝗗𝗥𝗢 𝗖𝗔𝗟𝗨𝗡𝗚𝗦𝗢𝗗

Today we remember Saint Pedro Calungsod a young Filipino lay catechist and missionary who lived his faith with courage. Born around 1654 in the Visayan region of the Philippines, he volunteered at a young age to accompany Spanish Jesuit missionaries to the Mariana Islands (Guam) to share the Gospel.

There, despite harsh conditions and opposition, he assisted in catechizing and baptizing the Chamorro people. In April 1672, when he was only about 17 or 18, Pedro Calungsod was martyred alongside Father Diego Luis de San Vitores for his missionary work. He is a patron saint of Filipino youth, altar servers, catechists, the Philippines, and overseas Filipino workers.

Though his original feast day was April 2 (the day of his martyrdom)
The Philippine liturgical calendar has moved his official feast day to October 21 (the anniversary of his canonization) starting in 2025.

Today, we joyfully celebrate the Feast of the Archangels Michael, Gabriel, and Raphael heavenly messengers of God who play unique roles in salvation history and continue to protect and guide the faithful.
Saint Michael the Archangel is known as the leader of the heavenly hosts and the protector of the Church. He is invoked as the defender against evil, the champion of justice, and the guardian of souls in their journey to eternal life.
Saint Gabriel the Archangel is the messenger of God’s saving plan. He announced to the Virgin Mary that she would conceive and bear Jesus, the Son of God. His mission reminds us of the importance of openness to God’s will and joyful proclamation of His Word.
Saint Raphael the Archangel is known as the healer and companion. In the Book of Tobit, he guided Tobias on his journey and brought healing to Tobit’s blindness. He is invoked as a patron of travelers, the sick, and those in need of God’s healing mercy.
As we honor their feast and celebrate our Fiesta, let us be reminded of their constant presence in our lives protecting us from harm, guiding us in faith, and bringing God’s healing into our hearts and communities. May we always entrust ourselves to their intercession and live with courage, trust, and devotion to God.

Lord, grant me the grace to humble myself and to serve others with love. May I always seek to invite those who are marginalized and forgotten to share in Your divine banquet.
