The Institution ceremony will take place at 2:30 in the afternoon on Saturday, the 17th of January 2026 at the San Pedro Cathedral in Davao City. The Installing Prelate will be His Excellency the Most Reverend Romulo G. Valles, D.D., Archbishop of Davao.

The liturgical ministry of the lectorate was established by Pope Saint Paul VI in 1973 with the apostolic letter “Ministeria Quaedam," and are to be given to all aspirants for Holy Orders.
“The lector is instituted to proclaim the readings from Sacred Scripture, with the exception of the Gospel. He may also announce the intentions for the Universal Prayer and, in the absence of a psalmist, recite the Psalm between the readings. In the celebration of the Eucharist, the lector has his own proper function, which he himself must carry out.” (General Instruction of the Roman Missal, n. 99)

Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week and commemorates Jesus Christ’s triumphant entry into Jerusalem, where crowds welcomed Him by waving palm branches and laying them in His path. It is a day filled with both joy and solemn reflection, as it reminds Christians of Jesus' kingship and the events leading to His crucifixion and resurrection. The waving of palms symbolizes victory and peace, while the readings and services of the day invite believers to prepare their hearts for the deeper mysteries of Easter. Palm Sunday calls us to follow Christ with humility and faith, even as we journey through the shadow of the cross.
