David clung to God in his heart and knew that God was continually with him while he reigned, fought, and fled. In moments of peace and in moments of distress, he supplicated to God. In his moment of inattentiveness and folly, he committed two great sins, but when awareness hit him, he bitterly repented with a sorrowful and contrite heart. God was never very far from his thoughts. David recognized the need to keep the bond he shared with His Creator and Savior, and that he was accountable to God for all his deeds.

The joy we experience is boundless when we realize the need to hold on tight to this bond. Like the bond a parent shares with his child or a husband with his wife, all parties sharing the bond experience one another’s happiness, pains, and sorrows. Our sorrows halve, our joys double, and our graces multiply as we draw near to Him and enjoy a close bond with our Lord Jesus.

"What is the role of the members?

Like a family, the church provides the church provides for the spiritual needs of her members. The Holy Spirit distributes various gifts and abilities to the members so that they may serve and encourage one another (1 Cor 12:4-11).

As members of the family, we need to work together using our God-given abilities to help each other grow. The spirit of unity and mutual support is the guiding principle of the church. Having the love and grace of our Lord as our common bond, we share together the joy, peace, and strength in Christ."

True Peace in a War – Update from Moscow Church

First the pandemic, then the Ukrainian-Russian war. Though peace may not seem near to people in Russia, nonetheless our members in the Moscow church have never ceased encouraging one another with the word of God. While the world around them is in upheaval, they have true peace from above.

"Supporting the weak and giving to the poor are kindness unconditionally offered, without expectation of reward whatsoever, exuding from a loving heart, fashioned into conformity with that of Christ (Phil 2:5).

We have nothing to glory in our benevolence, for all charitable acts must stem candidly from love and sympathy - imbued in our human nature and decreed as our fundamental duties by God. Jesus taught, “For I say unto you, that except your righteousness shall exceed the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, ye shall in no wise enter into the kingdom of heaven” (Mt 5:20). If unbelievers are impelled by nature to perform good deeds, how much more should believers covet every opportunity to do good. thereby illuminating the world with light and glorifying the Lord’s name. Good deeds and alms-giving are sacrifices pleasing to God (Heb 13:16).

May the Holy Spirit stir in our hearts that love which explodes in liberality, helping and supporting the weak with spontaneity, and at the same time enriching our lives with His bounteous grace."

"Patience is the key factor contributing to successful faith. A genuine faith can survive the test of time, environment and circumstances. Only when a person possesses an immovable and consistent faith, can he continue to serve God in His Kingdom until the end, to receive his rewards.

The longer we have believed in Christ, the more important our faith becomes, for we are closer to the day of redemption (Heb 10:36-39). If we can hold fast the first faith to the end, we will have a share in Christ (Heb 3:4). Hence, God often builds up the patience of our faith through tribulation. If we can endure to the end, God will definitely open a way of grace (I Cor 10:12). If Job had not endured the great tribulation of losing his children, wealth, and suffered from terrible sores all over his body, his weakness of self-righteousness would not have been removed, and his faith would not have become perfect. Finally he was healed and blessed with a double portion by God (Jas 5:7,8,10,11). Had not Joseph fallen into the great tribulation of being sold as a slave and unjustly put in prison, he would not have become the Prime Minister of Egypt and fulfilled God's will of sustaining the people of Israel. The time factor is vital for the excellent work which affliction is to accomplish. If the gold is not refined long enough in the furnace, it can never become pure. Therefore, the believers in the last days who will face terrible tribulations must learn to endure to the end in order to be saved (Mt 24:13)."

"Even though we were unworthy, Jesus saved us and poured out His Spirit on us, transforming our lowly bodies into the temple of the Holy Spirit. Many of us can testify how Jesus Christ brought us to the true church: some of us were born into the church; others believed on account of friends or relatives preaching to them. Either way, it is God’s grace. God did not choose us because we loved Him, but because He first loved us.

We ought not receive the grace of God in vain (2 Cor 6:1–2). Unknowingly, we could be those whom the Bible refers to as “enemies of the cross of Jesus” (Phil 3:18b). They continued to live for themselves. They failed to understand and appreciate the grace of God that had come upon them and continued with their secular lifestyle even after believing in Christ.

The question we should ask ourselves, then, is: Who do we live for? Are we believers who do not put in effort to strengthen our faith, and continue to live for ourselves?"

Lecture Series: Genesis

Salvation comes by God's grace through faith. The Bible even says, "But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him" (Heb 11:6). This lecture series focuses on the life of Abraham, the father of faith, as recorded in Genesis: how he was tested and what he did to be ultimately accounted as righteous before God.

For every house is built by someone, but He who built all things is God (Heb 3:4).

If we look at an inanimate building and know it must have a builder, how much more so what is infinitely more complex – that which is living and breathing! We can see the marks of God, who alone holds life in His hands, in the endless varieties of plants and animals in the world (cf. Rom 1:20). And humans – including you and me! – are His masterpieces. The One truly worthy of admiration is He who enables man with the creativity and logic to invent and build.

When we look at all the things around us with the knowledge that it was brought forth by the hand of a masterful and loving Builder, we will see with a different perspective. From concept to design to ex*****on, the Master Builder is unparalleled and is deserving of our awe and gratitude.

Now may the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like-minded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus, that you may with one mind and one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. (Romans‬ ‭15:5-6)

In Jesus Christ we are one family! Remember that our Lord Jesus prayed for our unity even in His last prayer. This means not only to love but also to forgive, help, and pray for one another. May our God unite our hearts as we grow together as one family in Christ.

We live in a world of rapid and perpetual change. From history, we see how millennia of agriculture were replaced by centuries of industrialization, which were in turn supplanted by decades of technology, and subsequently, by our present age of information and networks. We have also seen fads come and go, how capricious the weather is, and even how people can be unpredictable and unreliable.

Yet in such a world defined by sudden and accelerating change, there is one who remains absolutely constant. “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever” (Heb 13:8). Such is Jesus, the God whom we worship today. He is the God who created the heavens and the earth from nothing at the beginning of time. He is the Lord, who comforted the disciples in their anxiety.

Why is this knowledge important? Since God does not change, the Bible’s account of Him is a completely reliable guide to what He can do for us who worship Him today.
So how does the Bible describe God?

We may live in a time that does not value the importance of the family altar and worshiping God. Others may be raising their children to conform to the ways of society so that their children are not ostracized or made fun of.

But we are a chosen nation of God, set apart and holy in His eyes. What decisions are you going to make about the family altar that God commands us to establish in our homes?

In times like these, we need to faithfully adopt Joshua’s determination to live for Christ—not just for himself, but for his entire household.

Now, therefore, fear the LORD, serve Him in sincerity and in truth, and put away the gods which your fathers served on the other side of the River and in Egypt. Serve the Lord! And if it seems evil to you to serve the LORD, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose lands you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. (Josh 24:14,15)
