Rebuilding with Joy

In the days of Nehemiah, the people of God were rebuilding the broken walls of Jerusalem. They were surrounded by opposition, mocked, threatened, and discouraged. Yet they kept building. They worked with faith in their hearts and purpose in their hands.

The situation of a small, humble church can feel similar. Sometimes there is pressure, misunderstanding, or even persecution. But like Nehemiah and the builders, we continue the work God has given us. We keep praying, loving, serving, and building His kingdom, stone by stone, soul by soul.

The strength of Nehemiah’s people was not their numbers or power. It was their joy in the Lord and their determination to keep going.

Nehemiah 4:6
So built we the wall; and all the wall was joined together unto the half thereof: for the people had a mind to work.

Even when others oppose us, God sees the work of faithful hearts. A small church with willing hands and joyful spirits can accomplish great things. And like the builders in Jerusalem, we keep working, not in fear, but in happiness and trust that the Lord is with us. 🙏✨

Stay encouraged: when God’s people have “a mind to work,” the work will continue.

Standing With the Shepherd

There are seasons when a pastor and his family endure criticism, false words, and repeated attacks. Though the attacks may be loud, the calling of God is louder. And though accusations may be constant, God’s faithfulness is unchanging.

Moses faced this kind of pressure. Even after delivering Israel, he was questioned and opposed. Yet Scripture says of Moses:

Numbers 12:3
Now the man Moses was very meek, above all the men which were upon the face of the earth.

Meekness is not weakness. It is strength undercontrol. It is trusting God to defend instead of defending oneself in the flesh.

The Bible also reminds us:

Exodus 14:14
The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace.

When a pastor is attacked, the church has a choice: join the noise, or stand in prayer. When you choose patience, humility, and faithfulness, you become a shield of encouragement around your shepherd and his family.

God sees every harsh word spoken unjustly. He also sees every quiet prayer whispered in support.

Stand steady. Pray faithfully. Speak graciously.

The Lord who called your pastor is the Lord who will sustain him.

GOD SPEAKS IN THE DESERT

Hosea 2:14
Therefore, behold, I will allure her, and bring her into the wilderness, and speak comfortably unto her.

The desert seasons of life feel dry, quiet, and stretched thin. But Scripture shows us something surprising: God often chooses the wilderness as His meeting place. When distractions fade and comforts fall away, His voice becomes clearer.

The desert is not punishment, it is invitation.
It is where God removes the noise so He can speak to your heart.

In busy seasons, we hear many voices. In desert seasons, we hear His.

When resources are low, He becomes your provision.
When direction feels uncertain, He becomes your guide.
When you feel alone, He draws near and “speaks comfortably” to you.

The wilderness slows you down long enough to listen.
It reveals what you’ve been depending on, and gently redirects you back to Him.

If you are in a desert today, don’t rush through it.
Lean in. Listen closely. Ask, “Lord, what are You saying to me here?”

The same God who led Israel through forty years of wilderness is the God who is shaping your heart now.

THE DESERT IS PREPARING YOU, NOT BREAKING YOU.

🙏
Lord, in this dry season, quiet my heart so I can hear You clearly. Help me trust that You are near and speaking, even here. Teach me what only the wilderness can teach. Amen.

Resisting the Enemy’s Attack

John 10:10
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

The enemy lurks around, seeking to steal your joy, disrupt your peace, and hinder the purpose God has placed in your life. He desires to bring confusion, fear, and discouragement to sabotage your ministry. But remember, his power is limited.

Jesus has come to give you life, full, abundant, and victorious. No matter how fierce the attack, the Lord is your shield and your refuge.

Stand firm in prayer, immerse yourself in His Word, and let the joy of the Lord be your strength. Every plan of destruction against you will be turned around for your good and God’s glory.

“Not today, enemy! I walk in the abundant life Christ has given me.”

🙏🙏🙏
Lord, guard my heart and mind against the enemy’s schemes. Strengthen me to walk in Your joy, peace, and purpose. Let nothing steal what You have promised me, and help me to advance Your kingdom boldly. Amen.

Trust Does Not Eliminate Wisdom

In First Samuel 17, we read the powerful story of David and Goliath. At first glance, it looks like a simple story of faith: a shepherd boy defeats a giant warrior. But look closer, and you’ll see that trust in God did not replace wisdom... it guided it.

David deeply trusted the Lord. He declared:

“The LORD that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine.”
1 Samuel 17:37

Yet David did not run toward Goliath carelessly. He refused King Saul’s armor because he had not tested it. Instead, he chose what he knew... his sling and five smooth stones. His faith was bold, but it was not reckless. He used the skills God had already developed in him while tending sheep.

Trusting God does not mean ignoring wisdom, preparation, or experience. It means confidently applying them while depending fully on Him for the outcome.

Faith is not foolishness.
Trust is not presumption.
And courage is strongest when guided by wisdom.

When facing your own “giants,” trust God completely... and use the tools He has already placed in your hands.

Leviticus 10:1
And Nadab and Abihu, the sons of Aaron, took either of them his censer, and put fire therein, and put incense thereon, and offered strange fire before the LORD, which he commanded them not.

This tells a sobering story. Leviticus describes how Nadab and Abihu, sons of Aaron, offered “strange fire” before the Lord, something He had not commanded.

It’s striking that their mistake wasn’t doing something obviously evil. They were still offering incense. They were still in the tabernacle. But they approached God on their own terms instead of His.

This verse gently warns us that sincerity is not the same as obedience. Sometimes we assume that if our intentions are good, it must be acceptable to God. Yet God desires not only our passion, but our reverence. Not only our creativity, but our submission.

There’s also grace in this warning. God is holy, and His holiness isn’t casual or negotiable. But He makes His will known. He gives instruction. He shows us the way. Our role is to trust Him enough to follow it.

Today, this passage invites us to ask: Am I worshiping God the way He desires, or the way I prefer? True worship begins with a heart that says, “Lord, not my way, but Yours.”
